Huntsville Summer ID: Quick Hits

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

MADISON, AL - The Huntsville Summer ID was held on Tuesday, July 2nd at James Clemens High School in Madison, AL. This event was an open event hosting some talented prospects from the 2025-2027 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during a simulated bullpen and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we highlight some of the top performers from the event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release quick hits articles, other various event leaderboards, individual scouting reports, and much more on each player present at the event.

Drew Puccio INF / Arab, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-5, 157-pounds. Athletic build with loads of compact strength. Has consistently built and added to a strong track record of performing in-game with the right-handed bat, whether it be in the spring or summer. This look was no different, as the uncommitted infielder consistently delivered loud contact to all parts of the field throughout his round of BP while registering a top EV of 98.2 mph, an event-best. He possesses a short, twitchy right-handed stroke and appears to have a strong feel for the barrel to compliment some elite bat and hand speed. Continued to show off the high-end athleticism throughout the event, as he clocked a 6.52 60-yard dash, which was easily the best from the event by a wide margin. He's a multi-year starter for a quality Class 5A program in Alabama and plays multiple sports. High-level uncommitted name to know in the 2025 class in Alabama.

William Lawley RHP / Hoover, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-8, 164-pounds. Medium build with some present strength scattered throughout. Lively right-handed arm and showcased the intriguing three-pitch mix throughout his bullpen. Gradual build of pace throughout the delivery before driving off and working aggressively down the mound. Really quick arm produced a fastball sitting 86-87 mph consistently with arm-side action and was in the zone. Spins a 75-77 mph breaking ball that registers consistent spin rates near the 2600 RPM mark while showcasing sharp 11-5 shape. Rounds out the arsenal with a diving changeup ranging 82-83 mph that had plenty of depth to it. High-level academics. Another high-level follow in the 2025 class in Alabama.

Seth Staggs SS / Briarwood Christian, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 6-foot-2, 182-pounds. Medium, athletic frame with length to it and room to add. Another intriguing uncommitted right-handed bat in the 2025 class in Alabama. Took one of the more consistent rounds of BP from the event while living on the barrel with nearly each swing. Possesses a repeatable right-handed swing with a natural feel for the sweet spot of the barrel and uses an upward path through the zone. Line-drive, gap-to-gap type hitter with a top EV of 94.3 mph and an average EV of 89.1 mph during his round. Also a well-rounded athlete who clocked a 6.87 60-yard during the workout, as well. Solid foundation of tools set with the ability to continue to add to them as he develops and matures into his frame with added strength. Good name to follow in the 2025 class in Alabama.

Hayden Udovich INF / James Clemens, AL / 2026

Uncommitted. 5-foot-7, 149-pounds. Smaller frame but plays bigger with athleticism throughout the overall profile. High-contact right-handed bat who took a quality round of BP during the event and tested well throughout muliple stations of the workout. Line-drive type hitter currently with a short, compact right-handed swing that routinely found the barrel. Stays connected well throughout the swing and uses an upward path through contact to drive the baseball with some authority to the pull-side. Quick hands and a strong feel for the barrel. Also a reliable defender with good footwork and accurate throws across. Clocked a 6.80 60-yard dash, as well. Appears to be a scrappy, hard-nosed type player who will only continue to get better down the road.

Andrew Au INF / Cullman, AL / 2025

Uncommitted. 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Good overall proportional strength to build to compliment some athleticism. Strong right-handed bat with pop to all parts of the field and showed it off during his round of BP. Disciplined, mature approach from the right side of the plate displaying the ability to drive it to both gaps. Stays connected with above-average rotational acceleration metrics, per Blast Motion. Has some bat speed and the ability to change planes with the barrel. Posted a top EV of 91.7 mph and a max estimated distance of 323 ft. during his round. Also has some versatility being able to play multiple positions on the infield. Another quality uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class in Alabama.
