GARDENDALE, AL - The Birmingham Rising Stars ID was held on Wednesday, June 26th at Gardendale High School in Gardendale, AL. This event was an open event hosting some talented prospects from the 2028-2029 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during a simulated bullpen and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Reese Ragusa, Spain Park (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-6, 125-pounds. Compact build with some strength.
Hit: SH. Balanced and athletic setup with the feet, toe-tap trigger. More of a level bat path, consistent pullside line drives.
Power: 77 max exit velocity, averaged 75.4 mph. 278’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 68.00 mph. Higher 3/4 slot.
Defense: Solid lateral movement and advanced footwork in the OF.
Run: 7.70 runner in the 60.

Hampton Hall, Oakman (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-7, 130-pounds. Smaller frame, well proportioned.
Hit: RHH. Open stance, small leg kick trigger. Solid barrel discipline, handles the bat to all fields. Hands stay inside contact.
Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 69.1 mph. 246’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 72.00 mph. High 3/4 slot, long arm slot.
Defense: Early glove presentation, athletic feet.
Run: 7.51 runner in the 60.

Colson Griffin, Helena (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-6, 135-pounds. Leaner, athletic frame.
Hit: RHH. Small leg kick on the front side, balanced setup. Mostly pullside approach, created some carry off of the barrel.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 70.1 mph. 218’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 76.00 mph. Over the top slot with some carry.
Defense: Aggressive working to the ball and through the throw.
Run: 7.27 runner in the 60.

Caden Sasser, Pell City (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/C
Body: 5-10, 135-pounds. Athletic frame with room to fill out.
Hit: SH. Controlled load of the hands from a balanced stance. Slightly tilted bat path with some carry to the pullside.
Power: 75 max exit velocity, averaged 70.5 mph. 236’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 68.00 mph. Quick arm from a higher 3/4 slot.
Defense: Solid actions, clean glove work. Moved well to both sides.
Run: 8.79 runner in the 60.

Hudson Mitchell, Hewitt Trussville (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 6-0, 165-pounds. Advanced frame to be so young. Strength throughout.
Hit: SH. Simple process from both sides (SH), balanced. Hands work inside the ball. Uphill bat path. Consistent tilted line drives during BP, really works the middle of the field.
Power: 83 max exit velocity, averaged 73.7 mph. 299’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - No throws at the event. mph. No throws at the event.
Defense: Advanced footwork, glove works well out front.
Run: 7.52 runner in the 60.

Brock Kirkland, Cleburne County High School (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-8, 165-pounds. High waisted, some strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Crouched in the stance, open stance with the feet. Tilted path with the barrel, used the middle of the field consistently.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 62.9 mph. 228’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 71.00 mph. High 3/4 slot from a shorter arm slot.
Defense: Moved well through the ball. Short, choppy feet.
Run: 7.75 runner in the 60.

Sam Berry, Southside High School (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: 1B/3B
Body: 5-8, 175-pounds. Larger frame, strength in the lower half.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open with the feet, hands set back in the stance. Flater bat path, hands work directly to contact. Stays through contact with the barrel.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 77.8 mph. 266’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 67.00 mph. Shorter arm stroke, higher 3/4 slot with some carry.
Defense: Presented the glove early, played low to the ground.
Run: 8.20 runner in the 60.

Devier Ramos, James Clemens High School (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-9, 170-pounds. Physicality in the frame, strength throughout.
Hit: SH. Narrow setup with the feet, hands set high. Mostly pullside with some lift in the swing plane.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 67.6 mph. 317’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 75.00 mph. Quick transfer, short arm stroke and nice arm strength.
Defense: 2.01-2.07 pop times. Athletic and easy actions. Quiet receiver of pitches.
Run: 7.62 runner in the 60.

Brently Boshers, Hewitt Trussville (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/C
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds. High waisted, longer frame.
Hit: RHH. Athletic setup from a slightly open stance. Small toe-tap trigger. Solid bat speed, barrel stays through the hitting zone creating loud contact. Uphill bat path.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 72.6 mph. 262’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 77.00 mph. More over the top slot, throws stay on line to the plate.
Defense: Impressive footwork, very solid defensive actions.
Run: 7.76 runner in the 60.

Sawyer Jackson, Hewitt Trussville (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-7, 140-pounds. Athletic build, stronger lower half.
Hit: RHH. Taller, slightly open stance. Toe-tap trigger on the front side. Barrel stays mostly flat through the hitting zone showing a mostly middle to pullside approach.
Power: 78 max exit velocity, averaged 70.8 mph. 207’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 77.00 mph. Higher 3/4 slot, throws stayed on line.
Defense: Fundamentally solid, controlled actions. Flashed solid defensive skills.
Run: 7.47 runner in the 60.

Mason Renda, Hewitt Trussville (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-8, 140-pounds. Athletic build, proportional strength.
Hit: RHH. Hands set back in the stance, balanced lower half with the feet. Showed juice to the pullside but also showed the ability to hit to all fields.
Power: 77 max exit velocity, averaged 68.7 mph. 259’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 78.00 mph. Over the top arm slot.
Defense: Aggressive but controlled actions working through balls off of the bat.
Run: 7.38 runner in the 60.

Sawyer Downey, Vestavia Hills High School (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Athletic frame, present strength.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, athletic setup. Showed nice juice to the pullside with carry.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 81.1 mph. 310’ max distance.
Arm: LH. INF - 73.00 mph. OF - 78.00 mph. Over the top slot with some present arm strength.
Defense: OF- advanced footwork getting to balls off of the bat. IF- moves well around the 1B bag, early glove presentation.
Run: 7.18 runner in the 60.

Miller McClure, Vestavia Hills High School (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds. Longer, athletic frame. Ability to add size and strength.
Hit: RHH. Taller, balanced stance, hands set high in the stance. Showed some loft in the swing plane with a mostly pullside approach.
Power: 86 max exit velocity, averaged 77.8 mph. 312’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 69.00 mph. Higher 3/4 slot, quick exchange out of the mitt.
Defense: 2.16-2.22 pop times. Very solid fundamentally behind the plate. Receives well, shows some looseness in the hips, Athletic.
Run: 7.82 runner in the 60.

Bennett Schorfhaar, Leeds (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 6-0, 150-pounds. Lean frame,can add size and strength
Hit: LHH. Taller, slightly open with the feet. Has some tilt in the bat path, worked middle to the pullside. Creates some leverage in the lower half.
Power: 79 max exit velocity, averaged 72.1 mph. 286’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 70.00 mph. Clean 3/4 slot with carry out of the hand.
Defense: Nice footwork in the OF, works well through the ball into the throw.
Run: 7.55 runner in the 60.

Zach Richardson, Oxford (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: 3B/1B
Body: 5-8, 155-pounds. Some strength throughout the frame. Well developed lower half.
Hit: RHH. Taller setup, feet start slightly open. Slightly uphill bat path, created carry to the pullside.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 73.7 mph. 283’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 63.00 mph. Lower 3/4 slot.
Defense: Worked well from the ground up, stayed low to the ground fielding balls off of the bat.
Run: 8.29 runner in the 60.

Grayson Snider, Hoover High School (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-7, 157-pounds. Leaner frame, can easily add size/strength.
Hit: RHH. Slightly closed setup with the feet. Hands worked directly to contact, stays inside. Showed a mostly middle to backside approach.
Power: 71 max exit velocity, averaged 61.2 mph. 214’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - No throws at the event. mph. No throws at the event.
Defense: Looked really athletic on the backhand. Early glove presentation, solid defensive actions.
Run: 7.99 runner in the 60.
