GARDENDALE, AL - The Birmingham Rising Stars ID was held on Wednesday, June 26th at Gardendale High School in Gardendale, AL. This event was an open event hosting some talented prospects from the 2028-2029 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during a simulated bullpen and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Today we wrap up our coverage of the event by taking a look at all of the pitchers at the event.  

Reese Ragusa, Spain Park (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-6, 125-pounds. Compact build with some strength.
Delivery: Stays over the rubber, works well down the mound.
Arm Action: LH. Shorter arm stroke, higher 3/4 slot.
FB: T70, 69-70 mph. Showed some late, occasional cut. T1752, 1638 average rpm.
CB: 61-62 mph. Really good secondary offering. Tight spin with late down action. T1720, 1605 average rpm.
CH: 65-67 mph. Gets on the side of it a bit, creating some "cutting" action. T1155, 1092 average rpm.

Colson Griffin, Helena (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-6, 135-pounds. Leaner, athletic frame.
Delivery: Worked exclusively from the stretch. easy, controlled actions.
Arm Action: RH. Higher 3/4 slot.
FB: T76, 73-75 mph. Mostly straight with some natural sink. T2098, 1965 average rpm.
CB: 64-67 mph. Late downer action, 11/5 shape. Located well to the gloveside. T2166, 2048 average rpm.
CH: 69-69 mph. Late tumble, down in the zone. T1580, 1487 average rpm.

Luke Slaton, Geraldine School (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-8, 137-pounds. Proportional, compact build.
Delivery: Stays over the mound, clean in the delivery down the mound.
Arm Action: LH. Higher 3/4 action, shorter arm stroke.
FB: T61, 61-61 mph. Mostly straight. Showed occasional late, natural sink. T1720, 1638 average rpm.
CB: 51-53 mph. Slower, big breaker. Solid secondary offering when down in the zone. T2012, 1965 average rpm.
CH: 54-58 mph. Solid deception out of the hand showing late tumble to the arm side. T1304, 1271 average rpm.

Cooper Cline, Pell City (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Can easily add more size and strength as he develops.
Delivery: Up tempo delivery, creates deception in the delivery.
Arm Action: LH. Mid 3/4 slot, longer arm stroke.
FB: T72, 69-72 mph. Late arm side action while also showing some occasional cut at times. T2099, 2044 average rpm.
CB: 57-59 mph. Changed the arm slot a bit. Varying shape with occasional down action and also showed some side to side action at times. T1761, 1646 average rpm.
CH: 66-66 mph. Plays well off of the fastball, late tumble to the arm side. T1661, 1634 average rpm.

Sawyer Downey, Vestavia Hills High School (AL), 2028
Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 5-11, 150-pounds. Athletic frame, present strength.
Delivery: Stays intact over the rubber, uses the lower half well.
Arm Action: LH. High 3/4 slot, longer arm stroke.
FB: T74, 70-74 mph. Really late "cut" on the pitch, makes it a high level pitch. T1476, 1383 average rpm.
CB: 62-66 mph. Solid 1/7 shape, tough matchup for LH hitters. T1832, 1762 average rpm.
CH: 69-71 mph. Mostly straight with some late fade. Thrown with fastball intent. T1415, 1396 average rpm.

Zach Richardson, Oxford (AL), 2029
Positional Profile: 3B/1B
Body: 5-8, 155-pounds. Some strength throughout the frame. Well developed lower half.
Delivery: Slower tempo, methodical delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Sidearm slot.
FB: T66, 64-65 mph. Creates a lot of arm side action from the low slot. T1723, 1626 average rpm.
CB: 58-60 mph. Solid 11/5 shape. Later, sharp shape. T1741, 1686 average rpm.
