Alabama Scout Blog: Uncommitted 2024 Hitters
April 11, 2024
The Prep Baseball Alabama Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the Prep Baseball Scouting Staff during the season. Now past to the midway point of the 2024 high school season, we're compiling all reports up to this point of the spring and splitting up the 2024 and 2025 classes based on position. Continuing the series today, we take a look at all uncommitted 2024 hitters who have been featured in scout blogs in the first seven weeks of the season.
+ C Parker Cook (Montgomery Academy, 2024) was thoroughly impressive in our first viewing of the uncommitted backstop showing quality skills and ability on both sides of the ball. Listed at 6-foot-0, 165-pounds, Cook appears to be a sold athlete with some intriguing tools across the board who also doubles as the starting quarterback for the Eagles in the fall. That athleticism translates over onto the diamond, where his smooth left-handed swing was hard to ignore facing a tough L/L matchup during yesterday's pivotal area series matchup. Slotted in the two-hole for the Eagles, Cook hits from a wider stance with the majority of his weight sitting on the back-side and has a simple stride for trigger. Not showing much wasted movement with the swing, the senior shows the ability to use the whole field within his approach and took consistent quality at-bat's throughout the contest. Hitting with two outs in a tie game with a runner on second, Cook took an impressive at-bat work the count with two strikes and spitting on some L/L sliders just off the zone, and finally got one to hit and drove it to CF for a crucial RBI single. Also a quiet reciever behind the plate and sticks the pitch at the bottom of the zone. Fundamental blocker and has some arm strength and accuracy on throws to second base. Absolutely would be a quality late addition to college program.
