The 2024 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Alabama.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the Jacksonville/Oxford/Montgomery area at the AISA or AHSAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Alabama. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each AHSAA classification.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each AHSAA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.
*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK
The Wetumpka Indians will look to continue their streak of reaching the playoffs this spring, as they've consistently grown into a very competitive program with numerous playoff runs and appearances. The Indians will need some newer faces to step into important roles this spring, but all signs point to another strong season competing in Class 6A in 2024.
After finishing as the runner-up in their area in 2023, the Indians were tasked with hitting the road in the 1st round of the playoffs and traveling to play at Helena, who is always talented and a tough place to play. Last year was no different, but the Indians gave them a tough series playing in a pair of tightly-contested ballgames. They were, however, eliminated by scores of 2-0 and 9-5 to end their season with a 17-12 record. This spring, the Indians return some important pieces in addition to some other talented players who are looking to make their impact at the varsity level. LHP/OF Caden Wooldridge (Montevallo, 2024) returns as their most experienced player with multiple years competing at the varsity level. The left-hander is a crafty southpaw with a high baseball IQ who knows how to effectively mix his pitches. 3B Noah Golson (2024) and INF Jacob Smith (2024) are a pair of seniors who are expected to drive in plenty of runs hitting in the middle of the order, while SS Mason Fuller (2025) is slated to hit near the top of their order with good speed and a high contact rate. C Logan Fawcett (2026) and LHP Asher Nobles (2026) are two talented underclassmen, both of which are expected to carry important roles this spring. Fawcett is a power left-handed bat who performed well last spring, while Nobles is a strike-throwing southpaw who is expected to throw some meaningful innings on the mound, as well.
In addition to these returners mentioned above, the Indians will also rely on some other players to step into larger roles this spring in order for them to have the type of success they want to achieve. They'll compete in Area 3 against Stanhope Elmore, GW Carver-Montgomery, and Sidney Lanier for a berth in the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Expect Wetumpka to be a competitive club in Class 6A once again in 2024.
