Alabama Class of 2025 Rankings: Post-Summer Update

Austin Sharp
Alabama Scouting Director

After a busy summer full of events, the Class of 2025 Player Rankings is long overdue for an update as these players have just started their final year of their high school careers. There were a ton of new names who entered into the fold, as well as a number of others who continue to elevate their game, warranting plenty of movement and expansion (now 235 players) to the list. Most of the same names are still inside the Top-10 from the last update, but there's some shakeup within.

The Top-10 in the Class of 2025

+ No. 1: 3B/RHP Caleb Barnett, Mountain Brook HS (AL), 2025

Commitment: University of Alabama

"Barnett immediately stands out on the diamond with one of the more impressive and projectable frames in the class. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound right-handed hitter features some lean, natural strength on an athletic frame that he routinely got to in batting practice with considerable power potential. There was some swing and miss throughout the week, though he got limited at-bats as a two-way, but a professional vibe permeated from his actions in the box and there is some thunder in the barrel. Hunching into a deeper hands load with a knee-knock leg kick, Barnett showcased big bat speed with length in the zone as the ball stayed on the barrel throughout batting practice while driving it from gap to gap. The exit velocities are likely to shine all summer as Barnett appears to have a path for rising into the top end of the class given the physical attributes. Competitive on the mound with a quick arm, there was less polish and upside than as a position player, but it helped to amplify his willingness to compete. In the end, the workouts will always open eyes for the Alabama native via Pennsylvania, but the in-game production will ultimately dictate just how high the ceiling is."
