AL/MS Border Battle: Alabama Quick Hits, Outfielders

BOONEVILLE, MS - The AL/MS Border Battle was held on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th at Northeast Mississippi CC in Booneville, MS. This event was an invite-only event hosting some talented prospects from the 2025-2028 classes in Alabama. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-yard dash using Swift Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement while facing live hitters in simulated innings. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing this week.

Jack Sims OF / SS / Hartselle, AL / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 70 / POS: 1

Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 174-pounds. Good length to frame with certain room to add strength in the future. Well-rounded sophomore prospect with some sizable upside. Athletic actions all-around; clocked a 7.25 60-yard dash and has been quicker in the past. Line-drive approach from the right side of the plate with consistent firm contact to all fields during his round of BP; recorded a top EV of 95.4 mph. Loose hands and gets on-plane early and extends through contact well. Simple right-handed operation with shorter stride for timing. Versatile defender who can play a number of positions well. Went through the defensive workout at OF, showing good range and footwork with arm strength up to 83 mph. Also played some infield during gameplay and made all the routine plays. Athletic, projectable prospect who will be one to keep on the radar over the next few years in the 2027 class in Alabama.

Kyle Sanderson OF / Hoover, AL / 2026

Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 181-pounds. Compact, strong frame. Continues to trend in the right direction while improving his numbers across the board at each event he attends. Just attended on Saturday, but posted one of the more impressive rounds of BP during the workout and took a couple quality at-bats during gameplay. Solid athlete with good strength hitting from the right side of the plate. Simple load pre-pitch and does a good job of keeping his weight on the back-side. Incorporates a strong lower-half well. Can really compress and impact the baseball gap-to-gap when he squares it up. Possesses some bat speed and hand quickness. Posted a top EV of 99.6 mph during BP, one of the better readings from the event. Also posted a max estimated distance of 343 ft. Clocked a 7.06 60-yard dash and has been quicker previously. Has performed well at previous events and continues to improve in each viewing.

Mac Blair OF / Glenwood, AL / 2026

Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 164-pounds. Athletic build with some noticable strength added. Continues to show signs of quality progress with a well-rounded performance during this past weekend's event. Hits from an athletic, balanced right-handed stance and utilizes a shorter, quick stride for timing, allowing him to be on-time consistently. Mostly-level path through the zone produced firm line-drive contact to all-fields during his round of BP. Really fast hands through the zone allows him to cover the plate well and get the barrel to the inner-half quickly. Posted a top EV of 93.2 mph. Swings consistently syncs up well and allows the hands to work through the zone. Loose hands with good balance throughout. Best swing of the weekend came on a crucial two-RBI double to the LCF gap to give Team Alabama a lead on Saturday. Another quality prospect in the 2026 class in Alabama to keep close tabs on this spring.
