Two Senior Arms leading their teams into this weekend

As the playoffs continue for 1A-6A and begin in 7A this weekend we take a look at two senior hurlers that hope to lead their teams to a series win this weekend, 2018 RHP Will Morrison (Cullman High School- committed to Auburn University) leads his Bearcats into a matchup against Pell City and 2018 LHP Christian MacLeod (Huntsville High School- signed with Mississippi State) leads his team against the Vestavia Hills Rebels.

Both seniors have had phenomenal careers to go along with stellar senior seasons.

Will Morrison RHP / Cullman, AL / 2018

A mainstay in the Bearcat rotation the last few years, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound RHP has continued his dominant ways this year. With a fastball that sits 85-86 from a low arm slot, he can also change his arm slot over the top and bump the upper 80's. The thing that makes Morrison so effective is that nothing he throws stays straight. One opposing coach used the words, "it's like he is throwing a wiffle ball". His secondary stuff is solid with a wipeout slider and a changeup that really tumbles into RH hitters. His senior stats are impressive: 58 IP, 6-2 record, 1 save, has only give up 32 hits and struck out 67. Opposing teams are hitting just .158 against him and his ERA is a miniscule 0.84.

Christian MacLeod LHP / Huntsville, AL / 2018

At 6-foot-4, 215-pounds the Southpaw has had an equally impressive senior campaign at the top of the Panthers rotation. Showing a fastball that sits in the upper 80's and has been up to 92, MacLeod's mechanics are clean and his ability to throw three pitches really makes him that much more effective. Showing a curveball with true late depth and a change that really creates tumble, his fastball can appear to be even a little quicker that it actually is. A true strength of his is the ability to throw three pitches at anytime. His senior year stats are equally impressive: 49 IP, 7-1 record, has given up only 24 hits and struck out 88. Opposing teams are hitting just .144 against him and his ERA is 1.00.

On February 27, Morrison and MacLeod were matched up against each other as Cullman and Huntsville faced off in what everyone knew would be a pitchers duel. In a matchup true to form, MacLeod's Panthers were able to come out with a 1-0 win in a classic matchup. Morrison only allowed 4 hits (in 6 IP), MacLeod allowed 2 (in 5.1 IP) and each pitcher struck out 11. Look for both of these pitchers to make an impact next year in the SEC.
