Team Alabama Game 3 Quick Hits
August 3, 2019
Team Alabama dropped their final game of the PBR Future Games vs. North Carolina by score of 6-5. Despite the loss, here are some of the top performances:
Trent Hodgdon, RHP/3B (‘21 Smiths Station HS)- After throwing an inning on Day 1, Hodgdon looked to be even sharper in his 2nd outing of the weekend. We saw an increase in velo, as he was 85-88 on Day 1 but was 87-89 in his outing last night. Filled the zone with his fastball and flashed a breaking ball that showed depth to it. Easy inning for the rising junior.
‘21 RHP/3B Trent Hodgdon (@TrentHodgdon; @SmithsStationBB) is locked in! 87-89 and pumping strikes. Stays ahead in the count and elevates with intent. Breaking ball is sharp at 75-76 w/ depth. #PBRFutureGames pic.twitter.com/ftCUpZV01o

Chandler Brewer, OF (‘21 Hazel Green HS)- What a weekend for at the dish for this kid. Brewer is an extra base hit machine, as he smoked two lasers to the gaps in 2 of his 3 AB’s last night. The ball seems to jump off his bat differently than most hitters, as he also put on a show during BP as well. Look for the rising junior not to stay uncommitted for too long after his showing this weekend.

Here is double #2 for Brewer...
Another AB, another pull-side double to the gap for ‘21 OF Chandler Brewer (@ChandlerBrewe10; @HGHS_Baseball). This time, Brewer brings in 2 to take the lead in the 7th with 2 outs. #PBRFutureGames pic.twitter.com/VeGPkxzQka

Carson Howard, RHP (‘21 Saint James School)- Just like Hodgdon, Howard saw a jump in velo in his 2nd appearance of the Future Games. After being up to 86 on Day 1, the 5’10 160-pounder sat 87-89 last night in an easy 1-2-3 inning. More in the tank for this rising junior as he fills out and puts more weight on.
Cameron Snypes, 1B (‘21 UMS-Wright)- From the left-side, Snypes produces hard contact with his single below by using his strong, quick hands. Love the swing path as well. Snypes would advance to 2nd on the throw from RF on the base hit. Physical kid
.Love the stroke from the left-side from ‘21 1B Cameron Snypes (@cameron_snypes). Barrel stays through the zone for a while. Strong, quick hands. #PBRFutureGames pic.twitter.com/MqfdbNYx7L

Alex Wade, OF (‘21 Madison Academy)- Being one of the younger kids on Team Alabama, Wade smoked a 2 strike fastball into the backside gap for a triple in the 6th. Defensively, Wade covers the OF position well as he had tracked down many balls in CF and makes it look easy. The potential is there for the rising sophomore to be a big time prospect.

Will Passeau, OF/RHP (‘21 St. Paul’s)- After showcasing his bat for most of the weekend, the 6’2 180-pounder hopped up on the mound and had one of the more impressive innings of the night. His fastball played 86-89 but the pitch that gave hitters fits was the breaking ball. This pitch showed 12/6 break w/ late bite to it. True two-way prospect.
We knew about that bat, but the arm from ‘21 OF/RHP Will Passeau (@WillPasseau; St. Paul’s) was equally impressive in his inning of work. Fastball was 86-88 and mixed in a 12/6 breaker w/ serious late break. Love the upside. #PBRFutureGames pic.twitter.com/jVNCfLfCpp

Trey Mooney, RHP (‘21 Oxford HS)- In his 2nd appearance of the Future Games, Mooney pitched a scoreless 3rd inning vs. the Carolinas. The 6’2 200-pounder located the fastball well at 83-85 mph with above average secondary pitches. Shows pitchability as well. More in the tank for Mooney.
