PBR Alabama Players of the Week: March 22-27
March 29, 2021
Once the high school season begins it seems like it flies by and the 2021 season seems to be no different. With area play beginning in earnest across the state as teams begin a possible trek toward Montgomery, several players continue to produce at a high level. Congratulations to the players below that have earned "PBR Alabama Players of the Week" for March 22-27. Thanks to the high school coaches that nominated players for this past week. This week we have 2 positional players, 6 pitcher only's and 4 two way players on the list.
PBR ALABAMA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Positional Players:
+ Slate Alford (2021, 3B, Bob Jones) Nothing that Alford does should surprise anyone any longer. Facing elite arms in the Prep Baseball Report High School Select, Alford continued to put together an offensive year that will be hard to be matched. The Mississippi State signee was 6-9 with 2 HR, 4 RBI and also drove in 5 runs.
+ Trey Higgins (2021, OF, Oxford) Another Mississippi State signee, Higgins also continues a stellar senior season for the Yellow Jackets. This week, the athletic outfielder was 7-10 with 2 2B, 2 3B and 1 HR. Higgins also stole 5 bases, scored 7 runs and drove in 8 more runs.
Pitcher Only:
+ Chris Billingsley (2023, RHP/OF, Bibb County) The sophomore turned in an impressive performance for the Choctaws versus Baldwin County. Billingsley got the win as he went 5.2 innings and only allowed 1 hit and did not give up a run, while recording 7 K.
+ Matthew Heiberger (2023, LHP, Oak Mountain) The sophomore southpaw was brilliant versus CAK (PBR TN #3) as he kept opposing hitters off balance during his 5 inning stint. Heiberger only allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run. He also struck out 12 hitters.
+ Sam Mitchell (2023, RHP, Bob Jones) Mitchell continues to explode on the scene as he turned in a brilliant performance versus Alatoona (GA) at the Prep Baseball Report High School Select. The right hander got the complete game win (7 IP) while only giving up 1 earned run. Mitchell allowed 3 hits and struck out 4 hitters.
+ Patrick Moody (2022, RHP, Sparkman) Moody has been very impressive lately and this week was no exception. Facing 7A No. 4 Oak Mountain, the junior right hander only allowed 2 hits while getting the complete game win (7 IP). He gave up 1 earned run and struck out 10 and did not walk anyone.
+ Jackson Sanders (2024, LHP, Valley) Sanders delivered yet another quality outing for the Rams in their area series this week. The freshman Auburn commit (and #1 freshman in the country) went 5.1 innings on the mound and gave up only 3 hits while recording 11 K.
+ Isaac Warrick (2022, LHP, Alabama Christian Academy) The junior left hander threw 6 innings to get the win versus Chilton County in the Gulf Coast Classic by a 4-2 score. He only allowed 2 hits and struck out 13 batters.
Two Way Players:
+ Dominic Banas (2021, LHP/OF, New Hope) The recent Martin Methodist commit played a huge role for the Indians in their recent area series. The southpaw got the win on the mound in G2 by tossing a complete game with 1 BB and 1K while also getting the save in G3 (both 1 run victories). Banas was also 5-10 with the game winning RBI in G2.
+ Samuel Dutton (2021, RHP, Westbrook Christian) Dutton finds his name on the list once again, and for good reason. The LSU signee helped the Warriors continue an impressive start to the 2021 season. On the mound he went 6 innings and got the complete game shutout (in area play) while only giving up 2 hits and striking out 11. He did not walk a batter. + Will Noles (2021, 3B/RHP, Westbrook Christian) Noles, a UAH signee, turned in a complete game (5 IP) shutout to help the Warriors get an area win. He allowed 2 hits, walked only 1 batter and struck out 9 hitters. With the bat, Noles was 5-7 with 1 2B, 1 HR and 3 RBI.
