Mizuno Pitcher & Player of the Week: Week 4

PBR Alabama Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Check out our scout blog HERE for games our staff was able to get out and see this past week.

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

New this year will be our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week. Look for that tomorrow.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 4 (March 14-19):

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEk

Stats from week 4

Milner, an uncommitted senior 2B had a fantastic week with the bat as he helped the 6A No. 5 Spartans go 4-1 on the week to improve to 17-3 on the year. In a Saturday doubleheader, Milner went 8-11 (.727 BA) as five of his basehits went for extra bases (three doubles and two triples). He scored four runs and drove in seven additional runs.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Stats from week 4

Following up a stellar junior season, Moody is once again missing barrels and inducing soft contact from his unique arm slot. The uncommitted senior RHP made two starts in the PBR Stateline Showdown and delivered two complete game wins for the Senators. For the week, he scattered eight hits over those 14 innings and only allowed one earned run and walked two hitters. He also struck out six hitters.
