Mizuno Pitcher & Player of the Week: Week 3

PBR Alabama Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Check out our scout blog HERE for games our staff was able to get out and see this past week.

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

New this year will be our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week. Look for that tomorrow.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 3 (March 7-12):

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Stats from week 3

The uncommitted senior first baseman has helped the Prattville Lions get off to a 9-2 start and a 7A No. 6 state ranking. Hall had a fantastic week as he collected five hits in seven at-bats, equating to a .714 batting average along the way. Of those five hits, four went for extra bases which included two doubles and two home runs. The left handed hitter also drove in eight runs. For the season, Hall is hitting .517 with an on-base percentage of .632.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Stats from week 3

The sophomore southpaw was downright dominant on the mound for the Chiefs as they won their fifth Jackson County championship in a row. For the week, Wynne tossed ten innings on the mound and only allowed two hits over that span. He went 2-0 for the week (which included a no-hitter over Section) and only walked one batter. The most impressive stat for Wynne was his 24 strikeouts over those ten innings on the mound.
