Mizuno Pitcher & Player of the Week: Week 1

PBR Alabama Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Check out our scout blog HERE for games our staff was able to get out and see this past week.

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

New this year will be our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week. Look for that tomorrow.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 (February 17-26):

Mizuno Player of the week

Stats from Week 1

Aderholt has helped Shelby County get off to a hot start with a 6-0 record. He has done so as a two-way player but he is being honored this week for his success as a position player.  Between February 17- 26, the senior Snead State recruit hit at a blistering clip of .533 (8-15). Of those eight hits, four went for extra-bases as he tallied three doubles and one homerun (Grand Slam) while driving in 14 runs. For extra measure, Aderholt tossed six scoreless innings and did not allow a run while striking out 10 hitters.

Mizuno Pitcher of the Week

Stats from Week 1

RHP Jack Campbell has gotten two starts on the mound in the first week and a half of the season against high-level opponents and has delivered a quality outing both times for the Bucs. In wins versus Oxford and North Pike (MS), the Snead State recruit has totalled eight innings on the mound and has not surrendered an earned run. The senior only allowed two hits, did not issued a walk while striking out 17 hitters.
