BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Open was held on Wednesday, June 15th at Hoover High School in Birmingham, AL. This event consisted of prospects from the 2023 through 2026 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at each positional player that attended last week's event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release individual scouting reports on each pitcher present at the event. 

 

Aiden Craven, Chelsea (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-6, 135-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, athletic setup with a simple toe-tap approach. Short/direct barrel to the ball with a level path, whole-field approach.
Power: 81.8 max exit velocity, averaged 73.4 mph. 301’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 79 mph. Loose, over-the-top slot with quality arm strength.
Defense: Smooth footwork, soft hands with an athletic crow hop.

Kyle Pace, Phil Campbell (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-2, 190-pounds. Athletic, well-proportioned frame that projects.
Hit: RHH. Quiet, powerful lower half. Fluid rhythm at the plate with a level path through the zone, creating carry to both gaps.
Power: 92.9 max exit velocity, averaged 80 mph. 323’ max distance.
Arm: RH.INF - 81 mph.Short arm action, high 3/4 slot, loose and accurate.
Defense: Soft hands, quick feet, clean exchange, athletic actions.

Ethan Bucher, Home School (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Interesting arm on the mound.
Body: 5-5, 145-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Tall, narrow stance into a small leg kick. Repeatable, short, level swing, whole field approach, fluid rhythm.
Power: 86.1 max exit velocity, averaged 74.4 mph. 251’ max distance.
Arm: RH.INF - 74 mph.Short arm action, high 3/4 slot, loose and accurate.
Defense: Smooth, confident fielding actions, soft hands, quick feet, plays through the ball well.

Ryan Mitchell, Jasper (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-8, 145-pounds. Athletic build.
Hit: RHH. High hands in setup and a quiet approach. Short path to the ball with a quick bat, maintains balance after contact.
Power: 80 max exit velocity, averaged 73.7 mph. 243’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 74 mph. Long, over-the-top slot.
Defense: Natural outfield actions, quick first step with steady hands.
Run: 7.34 runner in the 60.

Samuel Odom, Helena (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: C/2B
Body: 5-6, 150-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Very quiet approach with no wasted actions; smooth load of the hands. Short/direct barrel to the ball with a level path, whole-field approach.

Arm: RH. C - 68 mph. Short, high 3/4 slot with nice accuracy to the bag.
Defense: 2.17- 2.26 pop times. Clean transfer with direct footwork out of the crouch.

Positional Profile: 2B/SS Solid player that does a lot well on the field.
Body: 5-10, 150-pounds.

Chase Saul, Pelham (AL), 2023

Body: 5-7, 150-pounds. Athletic build.
Hit: LHH. Balanced stance with leg-kick trigger. Short, level swing with bat speed, gets extended after contact, line drive type hitter
Power: 84.4 max exit velocity, averaged 77.9 mph. 292’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 79 mph. From the OF, showed a loose/clean high 3/4 slot.
Defense: Moves through the ball very well with natural actions.
Run: 6.71 runner in the 60. Fastest time at the event.

Trevor Julich, Spain Park (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/3B
Body: 5-7, 155-pounds.
Hit: SH.Slightly open stance with hands set high. Compact swing, handles all of parts of the zone, line drive type hitter.
Power: 83.6 max exit velocity, averaged 64.3 mph. 227’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 62 mph. High 3/4 slot from behind the dish.
Defense: 2.68- 2.75 pop times. Clean transfer and feet, during bullpens he did a nice job receiving the pitch down in the zone. Arm strength will develop.
Run: 8.25 runner in the 60.

Will Weaver, Mountain Brook (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-9, 151-pounds. Lean, athletic build.
Hit: LHH. Hands set high showing a leg kick trigger. Short path to the ball with a quick bat, maintains balance after contact.
Power: 83.5 max exit velocity, averaged 76.2 mph. 267’ max distance.
Arm: LH. OF - 72 mph. Clean actions, works well through the throw.
Defense: Athletic, movements are fluid, plays through the ball well.
Run: 7.70 runner in the 60.

Colton Abts, Moody (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-9, 155-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Hands set low in the stance with a slight leg-kick approach. Repeatable, short, level swing, whole field approach, fluid rhythm.
