BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Birmingham Open was held on Wednesday, June 15th at Hoover High School in Birmingham, AL. This event consisted of prospects from the 2023 through 2026 classes. These players went through a pro-style workout and took batting practice using Trackman to record hitting metrics. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

Wrapping up our post-event coverage for this event, we take a look at each pitcher that attended last week's event.

Aiden Craven, Chelsea (AL), 2026
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-6, 135-pounds.
Delivery: Solid lower half, repeatable mechanics with nice balance
Arm Action: LH. Short arm action from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T74.7, 72.1-74.1 mph. The pitch comes out of the hand well, showed late action to the arm side.  T1983, 1853 average rpm.
CB: 62.3-63.4 mph.  T1993, 1942 average rpm.
SL:  Sharp, tight action.
CH: 67.2-67.9 mph. Nice feel for the pitch, nice deception and sink. T1306, 1245 average rpm. 

Ethan Bucher, Home School (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP Interesting arm on the mound.
Body: 5-5, 145-pounds.
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, square landing.
Arm Action: RH. Showed a quick arm from a mid 3/4 slot.
FB: T79.5, 77.8-79.2 mph. Flashed late movement while locating to the bottom half of the zone. T2086, 1970 average rpm.
CB: Sharp break with 11/5 shape and nice command.
SL: 67.1-69.9 mph. Late tumble, played well off of the fastball.  T2211, 2044 average rpm.
CH: 64.8-69.2 mph.  T1788, 1762 average rpm.

Ryan Mitchell, Jasper (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-8, 145-pounds. Athletic build.
Delivery: Nice rhythm in the delivery, uses the lower half well.
Arm Action: RH. Mid 3/4 slot; short, quick arm.
FB: T70.5, 69.3-70.3 mph. Showed arm side action, pounded the bottom half of the zone.  T1988, 1900 average rpm.
CB: 57.8-60.2 mph. Showed solid 12/6 action with some depth, changed speeds on the pitch.  T1731, 1686 average rpm.

Will Weaver, Mountain Brook (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 5-9, 151-pounds. Lean, athletic build.
Delivery: Solid lower half, repeatable mechanics with nice balance
Arm Action: LH. Long, loose from an over-the-top slot.
FB: T69.7, 67.2-69.7 mph. 2 seam action while also flashing "sink". T1706, 1636 average rpm.
CB: 61.8-62.4 mph. 11/5 action, showing late depth. Worked down in the zone.  T1643, 1633 average rpm.
SL: 63.2-63.2 mph.  T1619, 1581 average rpm.
CH: 65.3-65.8 mph.  T1130, 1104 average rpm.

Conner Nelson, Leeds (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Compact build with strength throughout.
Delivery: Up tempo delivery with nice rhythm throughout.
Arm Action: RH. Quick arm draw on the backside, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T81.3, 79.9-81.1 mph. "Heavy" pitch with late sinking action. T1827, 1786 average rpm.
CB:  Slower breaking ball with gradual shape, developing 12/6 action.
SL: 68.3-71.7 mph. Sharp, late sweeping action.  T2177, 2006 average rpm.

Memphis Scott, Madison County (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: 2B/C
Body: 6-2, 150-pounds. Proportional frame.
Delivery: Lands square and on plane with the plate.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action from a high 3/4 slot. Fairly quick arm speed.
FB: T79.1, 75.5-78.3 mph. Solid tilt on the pitch, worked well to the bottom half of the zone.  T2309, 2111 average rpm.
CB: 67.5-68.8 mph. Late break with 12/6 shape and nice command. Can be a good pitch for him.  T2221, 2213 average rpm.
SL:  Identical arm speed and arm slot as the fastball, thrown with confidence.
CH:  T1654, 1654 average rpm.

Blakely Bryant, Daphne (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-10, 155-pounds.
Delivery: Compact/repeatable delivery, drop and drive lower-half.
Arm Action: RH. Mid 3/4 slot with loose, quick arm. Easy, repeatable mechanics that he repeated each pitch.
FB: T70.9, 68.2-70.5 mph. Featured a "heavy" fastball with solid sink.  T1865, 1705 average rpm.
CB:  Solid sweeping action that will be tough on RH hitters.
SL: 62.5-64.7 mph.  T1961, 1813 average rpm.
CH: 66.5-67.7 mph.  T1746, 1604 average rpm.

Aydan Beard, Hackleburg (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-0, 145-pounds.
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery utilizing the lower half well.
Arm Action: RH. Long and loose from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79.4, 78.0-79.0 mph. Controlled the strike zone, sinking action at times. T2118, 2051 average rpm.
SL: 69.7-71.8 mph. Commanded well with late, sharp 11/5 action. T2157, 2112 average rpm.
CH: 70.0-74.8 mph. Nice tumble out of the hand into RH hitters. T1591, 1430 average rpm.

Mason Blasche, Hoover (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP Impressive event for the two-way talent.
Body: 6-2, 170-pounds. Lean, athletic build with projection.
Delivery: Easy, athletic delivery,does a nice job getting into his backside down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Long and loose from a mid 3/4 slot. Works downhill.
FB: T86.5, 84.5-85.8 mph. Creates nice downward tilt and located well to the gloveside. T2072, 1948 average rpm..
SL: 68.9-70.8 mph. Late, sharp action with swing and miss potential. T2283, 2190 average rpm.
CH: 69.4-70.9 mph. Nice tumble out of the hand into RH hitters. T1615, 1512 average rpm.

William Gignilliat, John Carroll Catholic (AL), 2023
Positional Profile: RHP/C
Body: 6-0, 175-pounds.
Delivery: Uptempo, works on-line with regular effort.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm strike from a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T79.3, 78.0-79.0 mph. Showed quite a bit of arm side run. T2209, 2144 average rpm.
CB:  Tight 11/5 spin with late action. 
SL: 67.0-69.1 mph.  T1939, 1900 average rpm.
CH: 66.6-67.9 mph. Showed solid arm side fade, a pitch that RH hitters may swing over the top of.  T1374, 1295 average rpm.

Bennett Reeves, Southside (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-2, 170-pounds. Lean, lanky frame.
Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, square landing.
Arm Action: RH. Quick, short arm path from a mid 3/4 slot.
FB: T75.2, 73.4-74.7 mph. Commanded down in the zone with late arm side life. T2084, 1987 average rpm.
CB:   "Slurvy" type action while showing late depth.  T1926, 1926 average rpm.
SL: 64.7-65.9 mph. Tight spin with sharp, late action.  T1930, 1874 average rpm.
CH: 69.8-70.9 mph.  T1744, 1711 average rpm.

Trey Tyldesley, Hewitt-Trussville (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-3, 201-pounds. Athletic frame with proportional strength.
Delivery: Drop and drive delivery with rhythm that stays inline. Clean mechanics.
Arm Action: LH. Mid 3/4 arm slot, hides the ball well.
FB: T79.4, 77.7-79.3 mph. Typical LHP arm-side action that has the ability to miss a ton of barrels.  T2227, 2100 average rpm.
CB: 65.8-67.3 mph. Flashed solid 11/5 action that he buried in the bottom half of the zone.  T2226, 2190 average rpm.
CH: 71.3-72.5 mph.  T1380, 1352 average rpm.

Levi Sanderson, Hartselle (AL), 2024
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-1, 156-pounds. Lean, lanky frame.
Delivery: Simple, controlled delivery, strides in line to target
Arm Action: LH. Long arm swing, working from a mid 3/4 slot.
FB: T77.9, 75.6-77.5 mph. Comes out of the hand easy. Two-seam type, around the zone command to all quadrants. T2062, 2031 average rpm.
CB: 61.6-67.6 mph. Late breaker, showing solid depth with 12/6 shape. T2055, 1839 average rpm.

Brody Black, Oak Grove (AL), 2025
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-9, 140-pounds.
Delivery: Creates momentum downhill, shoulders stay level, strides in line to target, repeats delivery every pitch. Works well down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Short, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T78.8, 75.6-78.2 mph. Commanded the pitch well to both halves with some cut.  T1969, 1892 average rpm.
CB: 58.9-60.7 mph. Gradual breaking, 12/6 movement. T2239, 2150 average rpm.
