Team Outlook
The Lauderdale County Tigers come into the spring of 2022 looking to get back to the 3A State Playoffs after being eliminated in the 1st Round to Fyffe last year. The good thing for the Tigers is that they return some familiar faces who gained some valuable varsity experience in 2021.
LHP/OF Brodey Lentz (Northeast Mississippi CC signee), who missed some of the second-half of the season last year, is back at full strength this year as arguably their top returning pitcher and hitter. He's headed to college as a talented southpaw with four pitches he can locate for strikes, but he can also handle the bat, as well. In addition to Lentz, LHP/OF Ethan Hamm is another senior who will be one of the unquestioned leaders for the Tigers. He's a quality returning pitcher and a middle-of-the-order hitter with a hard-nosed mentality. SS/RHP Miles Edwards returns for his sophomore season after gaining plenty of experience over the past two years. He's started on varsity since his eighth-grade year and was an area starter on the mound last year. Another senior who will be looked upon for leadership this year is RHP/1B/3B Landon Jones, who should play a key role both in the lineup and on the mound.
A couple of underclassmen to keep an eye on come this spring for the Tigers is LHP/1B Skylar Tucker & RHP/C/MIF Hudson Lash, who will both see their roles expand in 2022. Both have some promising upside that could gain some valuable varsity experience this spring. The Tigers will look to get back to the 3A State Playoffs this spring after finishing as the 3A runner-up in 2018.
