OUTLOOK:
The Panthers of Southside High School enter the 2019 season with aspirations on making the 5A state playoffs after finishing 3rd in their area in 2018. A core group of seniors will be looked upon to lead some talented underclassmen this season. Sam Raines is a 2019 OF/LHP that will be looked on for leadership and to help the Panthers on the mound and in the field. Another 2019 OF is Connor Johnson as he will be looked on to be a mainstay in the lineup. Two 2019 infielders that should solidify infield play are Brennan Stokes and Mason McGlaughn (at 1B). 2019 RHP Lane Roberts is a guy that will be counted on by the Panthers on the mound and another senior, Ryan Martin, will be used at a number of positions, including catcher. Among the younger players to keep an eye on are Brock Ford, a 2020 IF and 2020 RHP/1B Micah Phillips, as both juniors look to contribute this season. Tyler Roberts is another solid 2020 OF that will be counted on to contribute in a big way for the Panthers. Two underclassmen that are both considered high ceiling guys are 2021 Jacob Little and 2022 Toren Snow. Little is an athletic infielder that also has good stuff on the mound and Snow is an OF/1B that already looks the part (6’1 205 lbs.) with a nice left handed approach at the plate. Some other young names to remember for this year and beyond are: 2021 OF Aulden Battles, 2021 Util/RHP Eli Barber, 2021 IF/RHP Landon Brasher, 2021 LHP Parker Brunson, 2021 Util/RHP Hayden Fry, 2021 RHP Michael Rich and 2022 IF Drew Edmundson. The Panthers enter 2019 with high hopes and know the future is bright as well.
