Alabama Diamond Notes: Week 5

The Alabama Diamond Notes is a new feature for 2022 that will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.
Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

For now, let's take a look at those players from across the state highlighted in this week's Alabama Diamond Notes.
DIAMOND NOTES (MARCH 21-26)
Isaac Warrick LHP / OF / Alabama Christian, AL / 2022The UAB signee delivered in a two-way role this week as he tossed six innings of one-hit ball with 11 strikkeouts and only one walk. He also hit .429 (3-7) on the week with one triple, one homerun and four runs driven in. He also walked four times. |
JT Moorer OF / Alabama Christian Academy, AL / 2022Moorer, much like his teammate, produced in a two- way role this week. He hit .556 (5-9) for the week while driving in four runs. On the mound, he tossed seven innings of two- hit baseball and struck out eight hitters. |
Damien Hart C / Charles Henderson, AL / 2023The uncommitted junior catcher had four extra base hits on the week (two doubles, two homeruns) to go along with ten RBIs. For the week he hit .643 (9-14) |
Alex Wade OF / RHP / Madison Academy, AL / 2022The former PBR Future Gamer and Super 60 participant had a huge week and was under serious considertion for Mizuno Player of the Week. Wade, an Auburn recruit, was 14-18 (.778 BA) with two homeruns. He drove in nine runs and also had two stolen bases. |
Tito Canales C / Jacksonville, AL / 2022The Jacksonville senior catcher has hit safely in 12 of 13 games this season and enjoyed a successful week. He was 6-9 (.667 BA) over that period with one double and two triples. He also drove in three runs and also scored three runs. |
Tyler Sanderson C / SS / Grissom , AL / 2023Sanderson seems to produce each time we see him and last week was no exception. He was 6-11 (.545 BA) with a double and three runs driven in. On the mound, Sanderson allowed only one hit over four innings while striking out three and not allowing a run. |
Austin Estes SS / 2B / Piedmont , AL / 2022Estes, a Delta State recruit, enjoyed a successful week for the 3A No. 5 Bulldogs. He hit .600 (6-10) with three triples while driving in two runs. He also scored eight runs with one walk. He was 3-3 in stolen bases, including stealing home to tie things up in the bottom of the ninth. On the mound, Estes earned a save. |
Jack Hayes C / 3B / Piedmont , AL / 2023Hayes hit .625 (5-8) for the week as the junior catcher had two doubles and a go-ahead grand slam as well. He walked four times, scored four runs and drove in seven as well. The uncommitted junior was also 1-0 on the mound for the 15-4 Bulldogs. |
Marc Stephens SS / RHP / Gulf Shores , AL / 2022Stephens, a Mississippi Gulf Coast CC recruit, finds himself on the list again after another solid week on the diamond. The senior SS was 9-13 (.462 BA) with two doubles and two homeruns. He drove in five runs and scored five runs as well. He finished the week with a .714 OB%. |
Dominic Maldet C / Gulf Shores, AL / 2023The uncommitted junior catcher played an integral role this week for the 6A No. 4 Dolphins. Maldet was 6-13 (.462 BA) with four doubles while also driving in four runs as well. |
Joseph Stephens RHP / Gulf Shores , AL / 2024The sophomore had a solid week in a two-way role for the Dolphins. On the mound, he was 1-0 with one save while only allowing three hits over 5.2 innings. He did not allow an earned while while striking out four hitters. Opponents hit just .158 against him. With the bat, he was 5-13 (.385 BA) with a double and four runs driven in. |
Braden Booth 3B / RHP / Bob Jones , AL / 2024The sophomore Mississippi State recruit was 6-16 (.375 BA) with two doubles and an RBI as the Patriots went 3-1 in the PBR National High School Select. He also scored four runs and had a stolen base. On the mound, Booth logged 5.2 innings with 8 strikeouts. |
Gavin Moran 1B / OF / Bob Jones, AL / 2022Moran continues to produce in the heart of the Patriots lineup. For the week Moran was 5-14 (.357 BA) with a triple and three runs driven in. He also scored five runs while walking three times and stealing two bases. Moran is a Coastal Alabama East CC recruit. |
Ryan Revera C / OF / Bob Jones, AL / 2022Revera, a Wallace-Hanceville recruit, finds his name on the list again this week. He hit at a .417 clip (5-12) for the 7A No. 6 Patriots. He had a double and drove in two runs while walking three times and stealing two bases. |
Brooks Bryan C / 3B / Opelika, AL / 2022The Troy recruit continues to produce in the middle of the Opelika lineup as he has done for a few years. For the week, the senior catcher was 6-13 (.462 BA) with a double and a homerun. He drove in six runs while walking four times. He also threw out three would-be base stealers during the week. |
Nathaniel Meeks RHP / OF / New Hope, AL / 2022The uncommitted senior RHP turned in a solid performance in the Indians opening area game. Meeks went the distance (7 IP) and ony allowed two hits and two walks. He allowed one earned run while striking out seven hitters. |
Bryson Goff LHP / 1B / Saraland , AL / 2023It's hard to find a pitcher that has had the success that Goff has had in the 2022 season and this week was no exception. The uncommitted junior southpaw gained a complete game shutout versus Faith Academy in the 6A No. 3 Spartains area opener. He scattered three hits and struck out eight hitters. |
Cade Prestegard 3B / RHP / Huntsville, AL / 2022Prestegard, a recent Northwest Shoals CC commit, has been swinging the bat very well for the Panthers this season, but this week he is honored for his exploits on the mound. In a win versus Decatur, Prestegard got the win by going six innings. He scattered six hits, allowed one earned run and did not walk a batter. He also struck out 11 hitters. Of the 76 pitches he threw, 60 were for strikes. |
Case Hager LHP / OF / Gulf Shores, AL / 2022The senior southpaw tallied five innings on the mound and was 1-0 for the week. The Coastal Alabama East CC recruit scattered six hits while allowing one earned run. He struck out six hitters and had a 1.40 ERA for the week. |
Hugh Windle SS / RHP / Westbrook Christian, AL / 2023Windle, an uncommitted junior, was highly considered for Mizuno Pitcher of the Week after a fantastic performance during the week. He allowed one earned run over seven innings while getting the win in the area opening series. He allowed three hits and struck out 18 hitters in the start. |
Brodie Self / Westbrook Christian, AL / 2022Self, an uncommitted junior, was brilliant in his start in the area opening series versus Sand Rock as the 2A No. 6 Warriors won the series. Self got the win over seven innings as he did not allow an earned run while allowing two hits. He struck out ten hitters in the outing. |
Brodey Lentz LHP / OF / Lauderdale County, AL / 2022The Northeast Mississippi CC recruit threw 8.2 quality innings for the Tigers this week. He scattered seven hits and allowed one earned run over those 8.2 innings. He walked only two while striking out 16 hitters as he went 1-0 on the week. |
