ARDMORE AL – The Sparkman Senators traveled to Ardmore High School on Tuesday night to face the Tigers in a midweek game as both teams sent a quality arm to the mound. LHP Cole Cheatham (2021, Mississippi State) got the task of trying to stymie the potent Sparkman lineup while the Senators gave the ball to RHP Patrick Moody (2022). Cheatham flashed some impressive some over his 4.1 innings but got himself in some trouble with 8 walks. The senior did strikeout 9 Senators and allowed 5 runs (2 ER) on 5 hits. Moody seemed to be in complete control from the first pitch as he tossed a gem, a 7 inning complete game shutout. The junior’s final line was: 7 IP, 4 hits, 0 runs, 9 K, 2 BB.

 Sparkman got the scoring started in the top of the 1^st inning as AJ Causey (2021, Jacksonville State) drew a 1 out walk and later came around to score on a Jack Buening (2023) single. The Senators would increase the lead to 4-0 in the 4^th inning by adding two unearned runs. Tucker Burns (2022) started the inning by reaching on an error and later scored via wild pitch. Kylan Duncan (2021) walked after Burns got on and later scored on a 2 out single by Mikel Pryor (2021, Calhoun CC). The Senators added a single run in the 5^th as Burns drew a 1 out walk and came around to score with two outs when Causey delivered a 2 out single to right field. In the 6th inning, the Senators continued to add to their lead as they added 2 more runs to make the score 7-0. Pryor was hit by pitch with 2 outs and after a few baserunners got on behind him, he scored on a wild pitch. Jacob Haley (2023), who singled earlier in the inning, scored one batter later as Duncan was hit by pitch as well. In the 7^th, Sparkman added 3 more runs to give us the final 10-0 score. Causey was hit by pitch and scored a few batters latter on a Buening double. Strachan walked earlier in the inning and later scored on a groundout to shortstop by Pryor and Haley followed suit by scoring Buening on another groundout to shortstop.
