TEAM STRENGTHS: The Bulldogs should be able to score a bunch of runs as the majority of their offensive leaders return.

 

OUTLOOK: Offensively the Bulldogs return their top 6 hitters in terms of batting average from 2019. The top 5 hitters in the lineup return as do the top 5 run producers from a year ago. Coach Chris Shelton begins his second year at the helm and will be looking to add some pitching depth on the mound. Senior Josh Mims returns and will be leaned on heavily as both a pitcher and hitter. In 2019 Mims hit .482 while also going 6-1 with a 2.10 ERA on the mound. Codey Posey is another senior that returns to the lineup after hitting .379 with 35 RBI and 2 HR’s a year ago. The Bulldogs think Posey’s power numbers will go up this year. Superb athlete Malik Inabinette (2B) returns after hitting .313 a year ago and stealing 15 bases. He makes things happen on the bases. 1B/LHP Grant Cordes is another senior that will be looked upon to be a major run producer after hitting .333 with 19 RBI’s a year ago. One pitcher that the Bulldogs will be looking to add depth on the mound is ‘21 RHP/OF Jay Dreyer after going 5-3 in 2019. Baxley Shores is a senior OF/RHP is team leader and spark plug that leads the team and is a big time competitor. ‘21 C/OF Robbie Gallagher hit .338 in 2019 and is a solid defender in the outfield and behind the plate. Two young guys that the Bulldogs will look to are ‘22 C Wesley Burdett and ‘23 utility player Blaine Carstensen. Burdett is described as a “plus defensive catcher” and Carstensen is a young player with exceptional tools and was inserted into the lineup in the second half of the 2019 season and hit .455. If the Bulldogs can find some pitching depth they will be a tough matchup for anyone as they should be potent on offense.
