On November 6th, Prep Baseball launched its National Preseason ID Showcase Schedule, including two events from the state of Alabama. It all starts on January 5th with the annual Birmingham Preseason ID, held at StrongBox Indoor Facility in Birmingham, AL. The Preseason ID tour continues on January 8th with the annual Huntsville Preseason ID, hosted at Talley Performance in Huntsville, AL.

WHAT IS A PRESEASON ID EVENT?

The Preseason ID series is unique in several ways. It serves as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, giving our scouts as well as college recruiters, a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the Preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains, primed for updating their Prep Baseball profile. All of which lends the perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Yellowhammer State Games, Preseason All-State, Future Games, All-American Game, Super 60, and more. 

Our staff strategically hosts Preseason ID events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.

All player information including tech metrics, stats, videos, scouting reports and more will be hosted to the Prep Baseball website, bolstering the player profile, which is subscribed to by more than 900 colleges across the country.

ALABAMA PRESEASON ID SCHEDULE

 

2025 BIRMINGHAM PRESEASON ID

We're excited to host the Birmingham Preseason ID, our first Preseason ID of the winter, on January 5th, 2025 at StrongBox Indoor Facility in Birmingham, AL. This event is an open event for Class of 2025-2029 prospects. We expect to see many talented players in attendance and look forward to seeing the gains that they've made in the off-season.

The talent at the Birmingham Preseason ID continues to improve year-after-year, with last year's event hosting multiple prospects ranked inside the top-35 in their respective graduating classes in attendance. Most notably, SS/RHP Paul Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2027) used the Birmingham Preseason ID to jump-start his breakout 2024 campaign. The No. 5-ranked prospect in the 2027 class displayed advanced offensive ability and touched 86.4 mph on the mound at the event, and would go on to a play a vital role as the starting shortstop for the Spartans as a freshman in 2024.

2025 HUNTSVILLE PRESEASON ID

On January 8th, 2025, we make the trek up to Talley Performance in Huntsville, AL to host the Huntsville Preseason ID, the second and final Preseason ID event of the winter. This event is another open event for Class of 2025-2029 prospects.

Similar to the previous event, the Huntsville Preseason ID continues to bring in talented high school prospects throughout various graduating classes in north Alabama. Hosting over 40 players in 2024, SS/RHP Joshua Henson (Buckhorn, 2025), a Southeastern Louisiana recruit, starred in multiple facets of the event. The former Prep Baseball Future Games attendee ranked inside the top-3 in most statistical categories, posting a 94.0 mph EV (3rd), 339 ft. max estimated distance (1st), 3.88 30-yard dash (3rd), and a top FB velocity of 88.6 mph (1st).
