Mizuno Player of the Week: Week 3

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year, we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season and for the high school coaches who nominated their players for this award.
Continuing from last year, we will also be highlighting other players from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes that we will release each Wednesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

McCraine earns Player of the Week honors for the Week 3 in a pretty unanimous decision, as it was hard to have a more dominant week, especially at the plate for the Auburn recruit. A top-15 propsect in the 2024 class in Alabama who has been known for the right-handed arm working up to the low-90's, McCraine excelled at the plate playing against some elite competition in the East Alabama Classic. Hitting in the two-hole and patrolling the shortstop position defensively, the senior went a near perfect 8-for-9 (.889 batting average) with six of his hits coming for extra bases. Providing a run-producing bat in the heart of the order, he recorded five doubles and a booming home run on the week while driving in seven runs at the plate. He also scored six times and swiped five bases. Working back on the mound, McCraine also entered in the 6th inning during their contest on Wednesday and went 2 IP, H, 0 R, BB, & 6 K. |
