Scouting Report
PBR Events Attended: Southern Alberta Talent ID 2017
Background: As a young 2018 on a team filled with senior infielders, Rayce began the season in a backup role playing both second base and shortstop. His slick fielding and abilities to make adjustments at the plate made it tough to keep him out of the line up as the summer went on. He shows body control defensively with clean footwork and proper actions with his glove, possesses great baseball instincts and was a constant threat to steal bases any time he reached base. He ran a 7.37 sixty at the first PBR Alberta event in cold conditions while the swing shows some bat speed through the zone with natural lift in his swing and the ability to work gap to gap as he gets the barre out front. Rayce continued to build off a strong summer and was one of the Junior Dinos best players in the fall to end of the year.
Need to Know: Wilkinson has made huge strides over the past few months at the plate and looks to be a top of the line up hitter this coming summer. He shows up ready to get better everyday and the product on the field speaks volumes to this. He has put on muscle over the past few months and his overall strength should help him take the next step to becoming the teams every day shortstop this coming season, and one of the table setters in the line up. Rayce also shows leadership qualities with a work ethic and baseball IQ. His overall compete level will help him make the jump into a college program next year.
