Alberta Scout Blog: Uncommitted Outfielders
February 2, 2022
Alberta’s current high school landscape is loaded with talent all around the diamond. The outfield in particular is full of a lot of players with some interesting and projectable tools. Here are just a few from a talented crop of outfielders:
Micah Gibb LHP / OF / Sir Winston Churchill, AB / 2022Gibb is a product of the Calgary Bucks program and brings a lot of projectability to the table. Gibb has an athletic 6 foot-2 185 pound frame and runs a 6.91 60. With solid footwork in the field and a quick bat producing an exit speed of 89 mph. Gibb presents an interesting prospect to watch for. |
Oakland Flodell OF / 3B / Clavet, SK / 2023Flodell plays his summer ball with the Saskatoon Giants. At 6 feet tall and 170 pounds Flodell has the potential to grow and continue to develop physically. At the Saskatchewan Open Event, Flodell showed off a 6.75 60 and an arm of 83 mph from the outfield. It will be interesting to watch Flodell continue to develop and what the Spring and Summer can bring. |
Logan McMullen OF / Sundre, AB / 2022Rankings StateRank: 31 / POS: 7
McMullen stands at 5-foot 10 and 168 pounds. McMullen shows a lot to defensive awareness in his footwork and tracking in the outfield. He pairs this with a 6.72 60 yard dash and an arm registering at 81 mph from the field. Along with defensive tools, McMullen has shown good bat speed with exit velocities registering at 88 mph. This player has the potential to be a multitool threat this coming season and is a name to watch for.
