From Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28, Prep Baseball is hosting the next edition of its prestigious Future Games at LakePoint Sports Complex in Emerson, Georgia, featuring the country's best uncommitted talent. And, for the first time ever, the Future Games is hosting not just its typical set of incoming juniors and freshmen, but also a 17U division of uncommitted Class of 2025 players who will participate in the inaugural Senior Future Games.

On the first day of the 2024 Future Games, all players representing grad classes 2025, 2026, and 2028 will be participating in a pro-style workout in front of a fleet of Division I coaches alongside fellow prospects representing nearly every state in the nation.

Inside this piece, we'll break down how all seven players from Alberta and British Columbia fared over the four-day event in Emerson, Georgia.

'26 OF/2B Easton Kitura (Vauxhall Academy): Kitura went down to Georgia as one of Canada’s can’t-miss positional prospects and he lived up to the hype, drawing tons of interest from coaches in attendance. Started of Workout Day with a 6.87 60-yard (3.85/30-yard) and was 77mph across the diamond, although he handled RF during the week and did so at a high-level with a highlight reel diving catch. It’s an athletic profile and comes with projection at 6-foot-3, 170-pounds. The left-handed hitter consistently gets on-plane with a handsy swing that allows him to make mid-pitch adjustments. Generates hard contact to all fields and came through with a single at 99mph off the bat. Intriguing overall profile and has likely already fielded several phone calls from Division I programs.

'26 RHP/OF Austin Blair (Victoria Eagles): Considered one of the top ‘26 two-way prospects pon the west coast, Blair flashed a high-ceiling both on the mound and in the box. Standing at an XL 6-foot-4, 185-pounds, blair put on one of the top workout days for the Canadian squad running a 6.99, pulling down 88 mph from the OF, and took a good final round of BP with a 95.1 mph EV, 87.8 mph avg EV, and 329ft max distance. On the mound, Blair is still green and doesn’t have the innings under his belt, but he showed well against a strong Midwest lineup working two strong innings. Over-the-top arm action with some ride up in the zone and a curveball when thrown in the 75-77 range, has sharp downward break and misses bats in the zone and out of the zone. Good overall showing from Blair who made a name for himself at the Future Games.

'26 C Taye Thierman (Okotoks Dawgs): Thierman was a two-time catcher at the Junior Future Games and quickly earned a spot on this year’s Future Games squad with an intriguing left-handed bat behind the dish. 6-foot-3, 185-pounds with some power to the pullside and came through with one of Canada’s biggest swings as he one-hopped the wall for a triple against Minnesota. The bat is more advanced than the defensive side right now but put together pop-times of 1.95-2.07 with a 77mph arm. Now an upperclassman, Thierman will really enter the spotlight this year for the Okotoks Dawgs and will need to continue swinging the bat at a high-level as it’s the major carrying tool right now. The backstop out of Alberta generated some of the most interest among West Coast prospects at the Future Games.

'26 SS Luke Laird (Langley Blaze): Laird has shown the ability to impact the game in a multitude of ways over the 2024 summer season and he continued to do that against the top-level talent at the Future Games. In the box, he starts with his hands low in an unorthodox position, but gets in a good hitting position and spray line-drive all over the park, extends AB’s and keeps the line moving with his walks. The 60 time isn’t eye popping, hovering around a 7.00, but he gets good jumps and is a smart base runner who creates havoc for opposing teams. He led the BCPBL in AVG, SLG, and was 2nd in OBP as a sophomore, and will be an exciting follow as his body continues to mature.

'26 INF/RHP Cohen Miller (Webber Academy): Another two-way prospect to show well with an athletic 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. In the box it’s a loose and free set up with extension through contact. Took two strong rounds of BP barreling balls up the middle and to the pull-side working up to a peak exit velocity of 92 mph. On the mound, Miller has a clean delivery and an easy arm with a fastball in the 86-88 range, curveball at 71-73 mph, and a 74-75 mph change up. During his two innings of work on Day 3, he mainly used his fastball that generated weak contact throughout. Exciting follow out of Alberta.

'26 INF Alex Machej (Okotoks Dawgs): Machej has plenty of growing and maturing to come over the next two years but possesses tools and projection that have him on track as one of the top infielders in Alberta’s 2026 class. Ran a 7.19 on Workout Day and was 81mph across the diamond (86mph in March) along with actions that should keep him on the left-side. The right-handed hitter is still just 6-foot, 160-pounds with strength to come and produced a peak exit velocity of 91mph. Another Dawgs player who should see an increased role and notoriety over the next year as he enters upperclass territory.

'26 C/RHP Desi Tregaskis (Delta Blue Jays): Tregaskis, 6-foot, 186-pounds, showed well on the mound in his two innings of work closing out Game 2. He commanded the zone well with his four pitch mix and generated weak contact with the off-speed throughout his outing. Look for Tregaskis to make a velo jump with his physical frame and a long and loose arm action. Also possesses upside behind the dish as a right-handed hitting catcher and it’ll be interesting to see which side of his game takes the first big jump.
