Borrelli, a 2017 grad from Sachem East HS, stands at a solid 5-foot-10 and 190-pounds. He ran a 7.41 60. Offensively- Begins with a base of the front foot more than shoulder width while the back foot is directly under the shoulder. Upright stance, with hands held just below the back shoulder. Slight stride with a toe-to-heel front foot movement. Creates separation with the hands staying on the same plain. Drove the middle in pitch well to the middle as well as the pull side. Recorded an exit velocity of 80 MPH, an increase of 7MPH from last year. Defensively- Starts with a solid base, weight is centered, quiet relaxed hand when receiving. Is able to sway quietly, on pitches outside of his shoulders to give a good presentation of the pitch. Has a strong arm, but gets tight to his body during the transfer. Arm drags a little, due to the delayed action on the transfer. With a minor adjustment of creating a transfer more towards the center of the body, can improve the 2.17 pop time, but has been as good as 2.06 at prior events. and 65 MPH arm velocity, but has been recorded as high as 72 MPH at previous events. Pitching- Starts center of the rubber. Uses a classic drop and drive technique going from the gathered position. Will over stride causing a collapse of the front knee, costing him some velocity. Showed the ability to work both sides of the plate. Fastball was deceptive at 71MPH. Was able to throw the change-up at 64MPH and slider at 61MPH for strikes working both pitches to the lower third of the zone.
