Gutierrez has a physical build at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds. Sat 83-84 for his outing. Short arm action, almost throws from ear like a catcher. High-3/4 slot. Showcased 68-72 mph slider which was a plus pitch for him. Able to throw slider for strikes in any count. Sharp 11/5 break. 77 mph changeup for strikes with some armside fade. The ability to throw his breaker and changeup for strikes is Gutierrez's asset. Projects well at next level because of it.
9/20/15 -- Gutierrez has an XL build at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds. He has a level swing plane from the right side and has shown the ability to hit with pop to his pull side. He has decent foot work around the bag at first and can pick it well. His upside, however, is on the mound. He pitches with deliberate tempo and a high leg kick. His arm action is deceptive as he gets to the top of his arm swing early and pauses. From almost the ear, he shows a fast arm at a high 3/4 arm slot. He pitches with sink to his heavy fastball at 84-87 miles-per-hour. His breaking ball comes in with tight, 12-to-6 movement and depth at 69-73 MPH. His changeup has some late downward action at 75-77.
