Kyle Angel, RHP, St. Joseph Metuchen
+ Kyle Angel was first seen at the NJ Open ID and was a definite standout who earned an invitation to the Underclass Games. Kyle has progressed nicely and has shown to have some of the most effective natural fastball movement in his class. St. Joseph Metuchen’s right-hander has a physical 6-foot-3, 225 pound frame. His fastball has been in the low-80s and he couples that with two potentially above average pitches. I’m excited to see his continued progress at the Winter Trials South event.

Kevin Condon, RHP, Colts Neck HS
+ Kevin Condon is the 2^nd of three on this list who first stood out at the Open Identification event in August. The 5-foot-10, 155 pound pitcher had an even better performance at the Underclass Games, retiring each of the five hitters he faced. He pitches with a quick arm at a ¾ arm slot which produces arm side running action and a low-80s fastball. His changeup is his best secondary offering with late fading movement.

Matthew Goehrig, RHP, Paramus Catholic
+ Goehrig is the 3^rd to earn an invitation to the Underclass Games after dominating the Open ID event. The right-hander is 6-foot-2, 195 pounds and has an imposing presence on the mound. He had an excellent day on the mound at the mega event in September as he struck out three of the five hitters he faced. He possesses a fastball that has reached 85 miles-per-hour and a breaking ball that has some sharpness to it.

Michael Gutierrez, RHP, Garfield HS
+ Gutierrez is one of many on this list who are a major part of the Jersey Boyz pitching staff. The 6-foot-2, 225 pound right-hander has a deceptive arm action that produced a handful of 87 mile-per-hour fastballs at the event in September. He couples that with a tight breaking ball which has definite out pitch potential. Gutierrez is rumored to have thrown harder since the event.

Andrew Montalvo, RHP, Paramus Catholic
+ Montalvo is smaller in stature but has a very high compete level. The 5-foot-11, 155 pound right-handed pitcher has a quick arm from a low ¾ arm slot that produces a low-80s fastball (topping at 84 MPH). He has three very solid pitches, which he showcased at the Underclass Games and again at the Battle on the Border against PBR New England.

Trevor Perks, RHP, Rancocas Valley HS
+ Perks is a right-handed pitcher from an excellent Gallagher Team Mizuno squad. The 6-foot-1, 175 pound prospect has a long, fluid arm action that produces a solid three pitch mix. His fastball is only 80-81 miles-per-hour right now but I am excited to see him again as I think he has the capability to be mid-80s by the spring.

Daniel Raglievich, RHP, Dumont HS
+ Raglievich was one of the most projectable arms at the Underclass Games. The 6-foot-4, 200 pound prospect is highly competitive with present stuff and the potential for much more. His fastball velocity was 82-84 miles-per-hour and he coupled that with a very effective 71-73 MPH slider. The right-hander should have a very strong spring and should garner some big interest.

Matt Ryan, RHP, Montgomery HS
+ Matt Ryan is 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. The right-hander has some of the most exciting swing-and-miss stuff that I’ve seen from a 2017 arm thus far. He has a fast arm that produces a fastball that has reached 85 MPH. He couples that with a very sharp breaking ball that is 69-72 MPH. As he learns to hone in on command, he will be one of the tougher pitchers in the state to hit.

Kyle Sears, RHP, Indian Hills HS
+ Sears is 6-feet tall, 205 pounds. The Indian Hills High School right-hander has a bulldog’s mentality on the mound as he likes to come at hitters with his heavy 80-84 MPH fastball. He pitches from a high ¾ arm slot and has a presence about him that makes him harder to hit. His secondary pitches are on their way to being solid pitches as well. He had a three strikeout performance at the fall’s top event.

David Stec, RHP, Steinert HS
+ David Stec is a Hamilton Legion/Hamilton A’s product whose 6-foot-5, 240 pound frame immediately stands out. He has a long arm action and pitches from a low to mid 3/4 arm slot. His fastball has sink at 78-81 miles-per-hour and his changeup mimics his fastball with good arm side fade. His breaking ball was slurve in action at 70-71. With progression, Stec should be a very solid pitching prospect.

James Steindl, LHP, Old Tappan HS
+ Steindl is the lone left-hander on this list and he does a fine job representing the southpaws. He is 6-feet tall, 160 pounds. He pitches with a long, clean arm action at a ¾ arm slot. His fastball sits in the low-80s right now but more velocity should be on the way when he adds some weight to his frame. His breaking ball is a bit slow but has solid shape potential. His changeup is his best secondary offering right now and plays well off of his fastball, especially to his arm side.

Julio Suarez III, RHP, Dickinson HS
+ Julio Suarez III is 6-0, 170 pounds. He has good tempo and is aggressive with his fastball. He lands across his body, restricting his lower half (hips) and his command down to his glove side. His fastball ranged between 75-78 miles-per-hour from a high 3/4 arm slot with some cut to his glove side. His breaking ball had tight spin and potential for depth at 65-66 MPH and his changeup had some downward action at 69-71. Cleaning up his lower half actions could lead to a big jump in "stuff".

Dante Vartolone, RHP, Paramus HS
+ Vartolone is 6-foot-2, 210 pounds with an XL frame with room to get stronger. He pitches with slow tempo and good hip lead. He has arm speed but cups the ball on the bottom of his arm swing. Cleaning that up could lead to more efficiency in his arm action. He pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with a heavy fastball at 75-80 miles-per-hour. His breaking ball has some depth potential at 66-69 MPH and his changeup has run and sink at 71-72 MPH. He is one to follow into next summer.
