Ryan is solidly built at 6-foot-2 185-pounds. Lean, athletic frame, Montgomery throws from a high-3/4 arm slot with a long arm action. Shows little effort in producing velocity, Ryan's fastball sat between 82-84 MPH. Featured an 11-to-5 curveball with late break at 67-69 MPH. A drop-and-drive type pitcher, Ryan uses his lower half well while going down the mound. 

9/20/15 -- Ryan is lean and projectable at 6-foot-1, 165 pounds. He pitches with easy tempo and rhythm making the ball seem like its exploding out of his hand. He has a fast arm and pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot. He had scattered command in this outing but he showed potential for above average stuff. He has some angle to his 81-83 (85) mile-per-hour fastball. He also has a very sharp 12-to-6 breaking ball with tight spin at 69-72 MPH.
