1/12/14 - The 6-foot, 185-pound right-hander has made a significant jump recently, and was clearly one of the top arms at the Unsigned Senior Showcase. Working from a 3/4 slot with a long, loose arm action, Gutierrez sat 86-87 mph with significant arm-side sink. His slider showed swing-and-miss potential, as it had sharp, sweeping break in the 77-78 range. He throws the pitch with conviction and for strikes. Gutierrez also commanded a 78-81 mph changeup. Gutierrez, who ran a 7.19 60, has an athletic arm and nothing he throws sits still. In the outfield Gutierrez showed an 85 mph arm and ran a 7.19 60.
6/12/12 Gutierrez is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound two-way player who showcased a quick, deceptive arm with a fastball that had sink, topping out at 81 mph. He threw his changeup with arm speed and solid depth. Gutierrez’s had feel for his slider that exhibited bite on the end.  Offensively, he has a wide setup with a smooth load and level swing through the zone. Gutierrez got extension on his swings in which he barreled up some balls.
Robert Gutierrez is a Class of 2014 3B/2B from De La Salle HS, showcased a quick bat and gap power. Gutierrez displayed a solid approach and good rhythm during his swing. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic player displayed solid hands and an accurate arm across the infield. The lean 5-foot-10, 160-pound player showed his athleticism in the field with lateral range at third base and soft hands. At the plate, Gutierrez showcased good bat speed with some pop. He also displayed his speed by running a 4.38 home to first time.
