Scouting Report
New York Games (July 7-9, 2015) At 5-foot-9, 165-pounds has an athletic frame. Has good fielding instincts, very clean with footwork and approach at the position, shows a lot of range and ability to move laterally, glove stays open and fields ball out in front, quick transfer, clean and multiple arm slots with good arm strength and carry to the target. At the plate hitter is relaxed and balanced at setup, smooth load and short stride to the pitch, hands to the ball are quick and short through the zone, has good extension and makes solid contact.
Our Take
We have seen Baez now at two events over the past 10-months. Very fundamentally sound with fast-clean hands that looks smooth and with little effort fielding ground-balls. He still has work to do as in games his hands tighten up some and looses some of those fluid actions we all like. At the plate he shows athleticism with bat-speed. He's headed to St. Thomas Aquinas where he hopes to make an early impact.

2016 New York Games
Prep Baseball Report New York is pleased to announce the 2016 New York Games will take place on June 27 - 29 in Rochester NY. The 2016 New York Games is expected to be the most recruited and scouted event of the summer.
Scouts from three MLB franchises attended the 2015 games along with coaches from more than 70 colleges including Division I schools such as Bryant, St. John’s, St. Bonaventure, Cornell, Villanonva, Niagara, Iona, Radford, Campbell, Buffalo, Kent State, North Carolina Central, Boston College and Monmouth just to name a few.
More than 40 of last year’s participants registered 60 times under 7.0. 49 players delivered exit velocities of 85 MPH or better. 10 catchers notched pop times south of 2.0. 3B Frankie Pizzo (Shenendehowa HS, 2016) topped 18 infielders who threw north of 80 registering 89 MPH across the diamond while 20 players threw 80 or better from the outfield.
The 2015 games brought together New York’s top talent from Long Island to Buffalo and everywhere in between. Nearly 190 players attended last years unique three-day event, as a result more than 20 players have received offers to play at the Division I level - several dozen more will go on to play college baseball. The 2016 games will only be better.
Players will be selected by their region coach through tryouts, previous PBR New York events, and High School / Travel Coach recommendations - This is an Invitation only event.
