Saskatchewan Fall Open ID: Positional Data Dive

Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, PBR Canada

On Saturday, October 23rd, the PBR Canada staff headed to Saskatchewan for the first of two events in Saskatoon with the Saskatchewan Fall Open ID hosted at the beautiful Gordie Howe Sports Complex in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This event featured 30 players from the across the province, as well as a couple from Manitoba, in the 2024 - 2028 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partners TrackMan and Swift Performance.

Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis and Pitching Data Dive. Now, we will take a further in-depth look at the top position players and metrics with the help of our tech partnerships, broken down by the categories down below:

Traditionally, the 60-yard dash has been the in-event standard to help measure a player's speed tool. While the measurement still has its utility, the 10-yard split has started to become more and more applicable in determining the player's burst and reaction time in-game, whether that's in the outfield or on the basepaths.
