Today we begin out Winter Profile Spotlight Series. We will make our way to all corners of the state and look at twenty uncommitted players through the 2024-2026 classes.

Our first highlighted profile begins with a Chesterfield area outfielder. 2024 Angel Prieto was a standout at an early summer scout day with the Virginia Spiders and Ironbridge Baseball Academy. Prieto plays with a little swagger and maturity to his game. That presence pairs well with his smooth left handed swing and above average arm from the outfield. See his full profile and video below.

Scouting Report

6/21/22

5-foot-11, 170-pound lanky athletic build. Athletic confident at the plate, Prieto clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. (68.6 mph bat speed average). (22.8 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall quiet stance with a controlled rhythmic load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is raw present, has a simple uphill swing plane and high good extension on his finish. Barreled up multiple balls with a lot of loud contact. Line drive aggressive approach. Smooth confident from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 86 mph; has next level hands, a quick clean exchange, and athletic fluid feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a longer very quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.08.
