Washington 2024 Rankings Update
May 11, 2023
After a preseason of events and with a regular season of HS baseball now behind us, the Washington 2024 class is ready for an update. The list expands to 150 in this latest update with some movement in the Top 10 and several new additions to the top 50.
Since its inception in 2005, the Prep Baseball Report has evolved into one of the country’s biggest and most respected independent scouting services, with a singular focus of providing comprehensive year-round coverage in every state we are in. The mission of the Prep Baseball Report is to scout and promote amateur baseball - high school, junior college and college - and, ultimately, help athletes achieve theirs of playing baseball at the next level.
Rankings are based on evaluations by scouting director Dan Jurik as well as additional PBR scouts across the country who have seen prospects from the state at various events.
With a majority of the prospects on the list uncommitted, the goal is for this information to help assist college coaches as they look to finalize their recruiting classes and add additional pieces to their roster.

top 3
‘24 RHP Zach Swanson (Toutle Lake) stays in the #1 spot. His size, athleticism and pure stuff makes him a top 100 prospect nationally and there’s a strong possibility that he continues to rise. His true breakout for us came back in August when he was up to 93 mph at Underclass Area Codes as a rising sophomore. Pitching 89-93 for strikes and pairing the heater with a power CB at 76-79 and faded CH gives him a strong chance to stick as a starter long-term. The smooth delivery and tight arm action all bode well for maintaining command and future gains. Oregon State commit.

‘24 RHP/SS Adam Haight (Cedar Park Christian) stays at the #2 spot. Haight was another big riser based off of a strong summer which included a big showing at Underclass Area Codes. A smooth athlete on the diamond with fluid actions and body control. He was pitching 88-90 with a sharp breaker at 76-77 on our previous look. The body type and actions all project well for future development. He’s also a very capable bat with feel for contact and a sound defender at SS. Moves well laterally with a soft glove hand and gets plenty of carry on throws across the diamond. Oregon State commit
‘24 RHP Adam Haight (CA) back spinning 88-90 (2375) w/ quality feel for an 11/5 CB (76-77, 2300).

Competes in the zone. Athletic delivery w/ more to come.

‘24 Karsten Sweum (Glacier Peak) has been in the Top 10 in previous updates but vaults up to the #3 spot after showing improved stuff this spring. The FB was up to 90-91 with heavy life and some deception. He pairs it with a hard SL at 79-81 that flashes swing and miss potential when at its best. A strong bodied and durable athlete. Swuem uses his lower half well and really delays the intent of his delivery. Gonzaga commit.
‘24 LHP Karsten Sweum (Glacier Peak) battled thru the 1st but the stuff was undeniable

FB 90-91 & he hides it well. Hard breaker at 80 mph with tight, late shape. @ZagBaseball commit looks like an arm on the rise @KzdSweum | @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/S75b52VU7E
Tyler Jones on the rise
Uncommitted ‘24 RHP/SS Tyler Jones (Woodinville) rises to #8. Jones has been on the radar for years now, a former Future Gamer in 2021. He’s a multi-sport athlete who suffered a tough setback last year when he broke his leg during football. The injury caused him to miss the spring of 2022 and most certainly continued to impact him through the summer. That being said, he looks to be back and just as explosive as ever. While he’s a talented hitter and has the versatility and athleticism to float around the INF, his ceiling on the mound is becoming impossible to ignore. In multiple looks this spring, we’ve seen the FB up to 91-92 and he pitches in the 88-90 range deep into starts. He adds in a power CB in the mid 70s with downer shape and an occasional CH to his arsenal. Keep an eye on Jones moving forward as he’s the top uncommitted player in the state right now.
Uncommitted ‘24 Tyler Jones (Woodinville HS) flashing stuff early. Solid athlete and aggressive pitch style with a quick arm

3 uncommitted risers
#24 - ‘24 INF Chris Parkin (Columbia River) - Parkin is a strong, speedy athlete with actions to stick in the INF or move to the OF if needed. We’re extremely high on his overall potential as a hitter with his above average bat speed and barrel control. The swing really impacts the baseball with authority when he connects and it doesn’t take much for him to generate power.
#28 - ‘24 OF Jackson Hotchkiss (Battle Ground) - One of the best combinations of power/speed we’ve seen in the class. Hotchkiss lit up our All-State workout back in February with a peak EV of 105.3 mph and AVERAGED 98.7 throughout his BP. At 6’3 200, he’s a 6.80 runner with an 87 mph arm from the OF. The raw power gives him the chance to be an explosive bat.
