Today we release our first update to the Virginia/DC Power25 rankings. Four new faces enter the fold after an impressive open to the season with many top teams facing off early in the season.
There were a few upsets already as the season has gotten underway, most notably with our preseason No. 9 team Riverside dropping two tough contests to Freedom-SR and then to Potomac Falls facing off against one of the top pitchers in the country, Nate Savino.
Benedictine remain as our top team with an 8-0 record on the season thus far. St. John's College stays at the No. 2 spot although they did drop a game last week, against one of the top teams from the state of Maryland in Calvert Hall.
Lake Braddock is our highest riser entering the fold after ta 3-0 start to the season with impressive victories against Chantilly and James Madison. Hanover is our second highest new face after their defeat of previously ranked No. 4 Deep Run, who have dropped to No. 10 after only playing one game thus far.
Just missing out on our Power25 include Freedom-SR, who have had arguably one of the toughest starts of the season squaring off against three of our preseason power25 teams Riverside, LCA, and Battlefield and went a competitive 1-2 against those foes. Western Branch just drops out of the ranks after two losses at the hands of Great Bridge and Nansemond River, who both are on the outside looking in. Collegiate look like they could potentially get themselves back into the mix but had two tough losses since the preseason power 25 came out agaisnt Greenbrier Christian and Cape Henry, who enters at No. 25 with other quality wins against Steward and previous No. 25 St. Christophers.
Enough talk, lets take a look at our Power 25.
