In 2023, our staff would like to take a look at a Virginia/DC high school team that had a big week and earned the honor of Team Of The Week.

This week the award goes to the #9 Benedictine Cadets. Benedictine knocked off three strong teams/programs. Early in the week the Cadets reaped revenge for an early season loss to Hanover, winning this one in extras. Their next game was versus DC's Jackson Reed (formerly Wilson). Benedictine trailed by as many as five runs and trailed 5-0 entering the bottom of the sixth. Benedictine won that one in the bottom of the seventh, with a final score of 6-5. 

The Cadets would return two days later and play Cape Henry, the reigning VISAA DI State Champions. Sophomore Jake Wise threw a five hit complete game shutout. The Cadets scored in the second on a Ben Rossi single and that is all they would need to pull out the victory.
