Updated 2023 Class Rankings

As we move into the fall after an exciting summer we have a change at the top spot of the 2023 class rankings as Campbell Smithwick relocates from South Carolina to Mississippi. The left handed hitting catcher and Ole Miss recruit brings some big time power potential with him. Below is a look a few more juniors creating a spark….

Jacob Keys, Catcher, Brandon, 2023

Keys, a Mississippi State recruit, is making strides and looks to be ahead of his time defensively showing great footwork, a strong arm and excellent leadership abilities. Offensively, Keys uses a very efficient swing and line drive approach with developing power.

Colton Coates, SS, DeSoto Central, 2023

The uncommitted Coates was very solid at this summer’s Future Games, spraying line drives from both sides of the plate. A very polished defender with good speed, Coates should have plenty of options soon.

Pepper Heard, LHP, Madison Ridgeland Academy, 2023

Heard showed up to this summer’s Future Games as a last minute addition and made the most of his opportunity! Using a running fastball that regularly work in the low 80’s, a breaking ball with good tumbling action, and a deadly change up the Madison Ridgeland Academy lefty allowed very soft contact and kept hitters off balance during his outing. Heard committed to Ole Miss shortly after the event.
