Prep Baseball Report

Unsigned Senior Spotlight: Troy Balko, RHP, Sunrise Mountain

Jordon Banfield
Arizona Scouting Director

PBR: How did the high school season go for you this spring at Sunrise Mountain?
Troy: The high school season was very successful for me. I played almost every game and got to build a bond with my boys that will last a long time. Last year was the most fun I have ever had playing baseball. We had a ton of accomplishments such as beating the number 1 team in the nation out in California, Buchanan. Last year we came up just short of our goal so this upcoming season I hope to change that and compete for a state title.

PBR: Who do you play summer/fall baseball for?
Troy: This summer and fall I am playing for the Arizona Athletics baseball organization.

PBR: How has the recruiting process been going for you so far?
Troy: The recruiting process started out kind of slowly for me. I didn’t have a whole lot of exposure or speak to many colleges, but this past summer the recruiting process really took off. I have had the opportunity to be in contact with D1 colleges, taken a couple visits and have some more to come.

PBR: What big events will you be throwing in this fall?
Troy: Some of the big events I will be pitching in are The Best Of The West, The Senior Fall Classic, and the Universal Fall Classic.

PBR: What are you looking for when making a college commitment?
Troy: Scholarship money is a major factor in my decision, but I also want to make sure I get a good feel on campus and have strong interactions with the players and coaches. I must be able to see myself attending that university and feel like I will develop and have an opportunity to contribute to the program.
