Unsigned Senior Spotlight: 2019 OF Easton Erwin

Jordon Banfield
Arizona Scouting Director

Throughout the year PBR will put the spotlight on a number of uncommitted prospects who show the necessary tools to play at the next level. 2019 Easton Erwin has been on PBR's radar since last winter and has shown steady improvement since then. A 6.8 runner in the 60, Erwin plays even faster, having turned in home-to-first times in the high 4.1's. Where he really stands out is in live game action, where Erwin has a knack for finding the barrel and shows far more pop than his 5-foot-8 frame would suggest. Erwin hit at the top of the lineup for Hamilton in the spring and Sandlot this summer and will make a school that gives him an opportunity look smart, as he always seems to produce. Check out the full report below that shows his development over the past year. As always, contact [email protected] or direct message @PBRArizona on Twitter with any questions and/or commitment information.

Scouting Report

6/27/18 - 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame. Erwin has improved his athleticism and physicality over the last 6 months, as highlighted by turning in a much improved 6.83 60-yard dash and appearing much stronger. Offensively hit from a balanced, open stance. Barrel takes an efficient path into the zone. Possesses bat speed, good barrel control, high two-handed finish; 81 mph exit velocity. Has shown a knack for barreling the baseball in game action. Defensively worked out in the outfield where he moved well. Fielded the ball with two hands at times, footwork could be more consistent, long loose arm action; 84 mph outfield velocity.

12/27/17 - 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame with solid strength for his size. Erwin is the definition of a solid baseball player, moving around well and looking comfortable on the field. Turned in a 7.04 60-yard dash. Hits from tall, open setup and does a good job being on time. Hits against a very stiff front side, which limits his ability to adjust at times. 80 mph exit velocity is not indicative of the type of hard LD contact he made during his round of BP. Showed tendency to field the ball with two hands in the outfield, making accurate throws with a long arm action; 84 mph outfield velocity.
