Unsigned Senior Showcase: Preview
October 4, 2018
Every fall for the past eight years, PBR Illinois hosts the Unsigned Senior Showcase, an event targeted for the oldest high school class in the area, this year’s class of 2019. On Sunday, Oct. 7, at The MAX sports facility in McCook, Ill., all unsigned seniors are invited to participate in this popular showcase in front of an audience of over 50 college coaches. Because it is among the last events of the year, it has become one of the busiest showcases on an annual basis.
Last year, approximately 80 of the 130 uncommitted prospects who attended 2017’s Unsigned Senior Showcase went on to school this fall with commitments. Among them was LHP Ryan Surin (Joliet Catholic, 2018; St. Louis commit). The lefty was a top-70-ranked prospect in his state’s class and wound up committing to St. Louis roughly one month following the senior showcase. Joining Surin at last year’s event was St. Charles North outfielder Tommy Nelsen, who went on to commit to Wisconsin-La Crosse in the late winter.

This year, there’s already nearly 150 seniors set to join us on Sunday, and a handful will even attend the event representing neighboring states.
