The Unsigned Senior Showcase gave college coaches the opportunity to get another look at a number of talented prospects in the Class of 2014 still searching for the right college fit. Following is a review of the top corner infielders in attendance.
3B/SS John D'Aquanno, Avon Grove HS
D'Aquanno showed well in all facets of the game. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound right-handed hitter showcased an 85 mph bat exit velocity good rhythm throughout his swing. He hits from a square stance and got to extension routinely while barreling the baseball routinely during batting practice. D'Aquanno displayed a 79 mph arm from the outfield and throws of 74 mph across the infield. D'Aquanno showed athletic actions at 3B with good lateral movement. His 4.25 home-to-1B time was one of the tops at the event.
1B/3B Walker Monteith, Central York HS
Monteith is a 6-foot, 220-pound right-handed hitter that utilizes a high hands load and a strong lower half to create barrel whip. He hits from a slightly open stance with a lift and replace stride foot. Monteith barreled the baseball consistently in batting practice with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. He gets to extension well and drives the baseball to both gaps. Monteith moves well around the bag at 1B and showed the ability to make all plays.
