Underclass Trials: Statistical Analysis

The Underclass Trials took place on Wednesday, June 5 at the turf complex of Symonds-Puckett Field at Triton College. The event was open to 2021, 2022 and 2023 graduates from around the state of Illinois, and some impressive numbers were turned in by many. 

We've already released our Quick Hits, that features our first impressions of the event with some of the top performers. Below, the statistical analysis will break down to top numbers from each statistical category recorded at the event.

Max Fastball

Hunter Pudlo and Brennyn Cutts tied for the top fastball velocity, falling one tick short of 90 mph. Both are big bodied right-handed arms with a ton of arm strength.

60 Yard Dash

Holt Geltmaker blew the field away with a 6.63 60 yard dash, a plus runner. No other runner at the event came in under 6.8.

Exit Velocity

Three bats tied at the top with 90 mph exit velocities. Hunter Pudlo again finds his name at the top of this list, along with Mason Telford and Frank Ryan.

Infield Velocity

Its Pudlo again, this time showing that trademark arm strength across the diamond. 

Outfield Velocity

Tom Egan brought one of the top fastballs as well as sitting atop the chart for top outfield velocity.

Catcher Velocity

Andrew Briggs leads the catchers in arm strength, topping at 76 mph across the diamond. 

Catcher Pop Times

While Briggs showed the best arm strength out of the crouch, it was Justin Cappis who made the most efficient use of his, topping the pop times chart at 2.06.
