June 7, 2016
By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director
The Wednesday, June 8th Underclass Trials is tomorrow and once again we are excited about the 100 plus 2018 and 2019 prospects that will be in attendance.
Last year’s event featured a number of ranked prospects in the 2017 class, two of whom were selected to last summer’s Future Games, Keaton Rice and Merrick Eddington.
This year’s event features a solid mix of 2018 and 2019 prospects. A few 2019’s to keep an eye on come tomorrow are right-handed pitcher’s Michael Bohlen, Kyle Wisch, and outfielder Kendal Ewell. 6-foot-3, 190-pound projectable Wisch is currently ranked No. 5 in the 2019 class and was up to 84 mph at an event this past winter.
The event will be particularity strong with 2018 prospects. Some ranked 2018’s that will be in attendance include LHP Ben Cornelius (Lake Zurich), C Mason Crews (Manteno), C/INF Jake Kapers (Mount Carmel), C Will Pudik (Peoria Notre Dame), SS D’Eric Shenault (Kenwood), RHP/OF Jaylen Patterson (Kenwood), OF/RHP Cameron Robinson (Champaign Central), RHP Brady Miller (Plainfield North) and INF/RHP Christian Lucio (Mount Carmel).
It will be exciting to see what new prospects emerge tomorrow.
