Underclass Free Showcase: Stats Breakdown

The annual Underclass Free Showcase took place on Saturday August 31st at St. Thomas Aquinas high school. The open event saw 60+ underclass prospects from across the state of Louisiana.

We begin our instant analysis from Saturday’s event with a look at some top statistical performers. We measured six separate categories and we’ll detail the leaders in each category below.

11+ players turned in sub-7.20 laser-timed 60s on Saturday. Aidan Lambert (Catholic(BR) HS, LA) and Landon Schmitz (Kinder HS, LA) turned in the top 60-yard dash times of the event, as both posted 6.83-second times. While Conner Rodrigue (Live Oak HS, LA) and Reid Broussard (Live Oak HS, LA) also turned in sub-7.00 times of 6.91-seconds and 6.94-seconds, respectively.

Zeph Arnold (Bunkie HS, LA) led the way on the mound, as the athletic 6-foot-1 right-hander showed off a quality three-pitch mix, and ran his fastball up to an event best 86 mph. While Jimmie Johnson (Central(BR) HS, LA), Brayden Thompson (St. Thomas Aquinas HS, LA) and Brooks Fawcett (Kinder HS, LA) also showed well on Saturday, each running their fastball’s up to 83 mph.

Jacob Clayton (Pearl River Central HS, MS) led the exit velocity leaderboard from Saturday, posting an eye-popping 96 mph off a tee. While Sladen Lyles (Springfield HS, LA) also showed off high-level strength and bat speed, posting a 94 mph exit velocity. Conner Rodrigue (Live Oak HS, LA) also found himself near the top of leaderboard, posting a 90 mph exit velocity.

Andrew Yuratich (Doyle HS, LA) showed off arm strength on Saturday, posting an event best 84 mph positional velocity from the infield. While Jimmie Johnson (Central(BR) HS, LA) and Roman Tolbert (Haughton HS, LA) also found themselves at the top of the leaderboard, posting positional velocities of 83 mph.

DJ Primeaux (Central(BR) HS, LA) topped the leaderboard with an event best 86 mph positional velocity from the outfield, while Jude Gremillion (Central(BR) HS, LA) checked-in right behind him with an 85 mph positional velocity. Conner Rodrigue (Live Oak HS, LA) found himself atop the leaderboard for the third time with an 83 mph positional velocity.

Caleb Ougel (Vanderbilt Catholic HS, LA) posted an event best 72 mph positional velocity for catchers, while also posting an event best 2.06-second pop time. While Sladen Lyles (Springfield HS, LA) also found himself atop the leaderboard for the second time, posting a 71 mph positional velocity, as well as a 2.12-second pop time.
