Uncommitted Spotlight: Sean Barnett

Diego Solares
Staff Writer

This week’s final uncommitted senior spotlight is Rockwood OF Sean Barnett, an athletic and projectable 6-foot-1, 185-pound outfielder ranked No. 77 overall in Missouri’s 2021 class.

Barnett recently attended our GBA Scout Day in May, where he had an all-around impressive day. It’s a smooth and simple operation at the plate, staying controlled throughout while consistently finding the barrel. Defensively, Barnett showed off an above-average arm in his workout that plays best in a corner outfield role and topped 87 mph on his best throw to home.

Scouting Report

2/10/18 - Barnett is a 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.37 60 and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts in a thin stance, short stride, slightly closed stride, slight natural lift path through the hitting zone.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, small crow hop after catch, fluid exchange on time with footwork, athletic actions through the ball with momentum. On the mound, Barnett has a lean frame and creates a heavy ball from an over the top arm slot, easy delivery, throws on downhill angle, room for growth in build and will quicken arm up in future, fastball has slight running action at 77-80 mph, showed an 11-to-5 breaking ball with gradual break, has feel for a change up at 71-73 mph, throws down in the zone with arm side run, throws all pitches for a strike.
