Uncommitted Spotlight: '21 LHP Connor Hill

Brett Thorney
State Scouting Director

We continue our coverage of uncommitted players, spotlighting them to help maximize their exposure and assist them in the recruiting process. Today, we look at 2021 LHP/1B Connor Hill (Millennium).

Hill is currently ranked No. 30 overall in the state of AZ in the 2021 class. He has some solid upside as two-way prospect currently. He last came to a PBR event back in June of 2019 where he put up a decent showing at our Top Prospect Games as LHP and first basemen. We also had the chance to see Hill through our coverage during the fall season. From a strong stockier build, Hill ran well for a first basemen, running a 7.16 60-yard dash. He has above average athleticism around the bag and potential to play some corner OF in the future. At the plate, hes a LHH that has shown some pop in his bat with a 94mph exit velocity. He might even be more impressive on the mound. Although we haven't had any velocity readings on him lately, he worked his FB 81-83 mph last June. He looked even stronger than that on the mound in the fall with heavy movement in the zone combined with a sweeping breaking ball. Hill should be monitored going into the summer season.

Scouting Report

5’8 180-pound frame with strength. Starts square in stance, using a toe tap to load into back side. Works deep into the zone and gets bat perpendicular to torso when swinging. Uses side bend to adjust up and down. Swing is good when on time but will need to improve adjustability to give himself a margin for error when not on time. Exit velo was 94 MPH.

Arm works well from the left side with fastballs up to 83 MPH. Throws with intent. Struggled some with control but showed the ability to match adjustments as his inning went on. Sweeping breaking ball had good depth and angle at 71-74 MPH. Has a chance to be a two-way prospect as skills continue to develop.
