Scouting Report

6/12/22

Physical: Athletic, proportional 5-foot-11, 170lb frame with two-way skill set. 7.28 runner in the 60.

Offensively: RHH. Crouched, even stance with a lower hand-set right at the shoulder. Utilized a quick, abrupt lift-and-replace stride to initiate the swing through a slightly uphill, lofty path. Created some stretch in the load allowing for burst on the front side, up to a T89 mph bat-exit velocity at 339 feet. Drove a couple swings deep to the pull side when getting the bat head to the front of the plate; blocked off the front-side well consistently with a couple hits in game action.

Defensively: The shortstop featured range to either side and a live 87 mph arm from his position. Shuffled actively for pace before unloading from a fast, full H ¾ slot that carried at head-height. Above-average footwork always looking for ways to win through the ball.

Pitching: RHP - Movements transferred from the field to the mound where he hides it for length with hip-coil at the top of the stack. Good control of the front shoulder with tilt at release. The FB ranged 85-86 mph and missed barrels with ability to move around the zone. Mixed sharp 70-72 mph SL that landed at an 80% strike clip, giving him multiple above-AVG weapons. Added quality 75-77 mph CH with some fade.

6/15/21

Physical: Projectable, athletic 5-foot-11, 155lb frame with sneaky strength and room to hold additional good weight. 7.25 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Started from a wide, bent attack, utilizing a high hand start to initiate through a flat path into the hitting zone; on time with a direct lift and replace stride allowing for solid bat to ball skills during a smooth batting practice round. Found success spraying line to line in the approach, though the best reps came to the LCF gap working up to a T86 mph bat-exit velocity via Trackman. Could lift on pitches middle/in, beating the ball to the spot with short, tight turns when need be. Hit into a stiff front side with adjustability that carried over into game action, top of the order characteristics.

Defensively: The primary shortstop featured twitch in the first step with range in either direction, got the chest downhill early, choosing where he wanted to field the baseball; funneled inward with a clean exchange, releasing from a quick, fluid high ¾ slot (85 mph arm, carry). Handled plays on the run with no issues and will likely stick on the left side of the infield at the next level.

Pitching: RHP - Began off the far right side of the rubber from the stretch-only, getting to a medium leg lift with pace at the top of the stack; got down the slope with athleticism and intent on the front side, allowing for carry on a 79-82 mph FB to the top of the zone. Mixed a 64-66 mph curveball with big-time sweep across the plate and some feel for spin, adding an adequate 73-75 mph CH that could be a solid third pitch down the road. Two way skills flashing.

2/13/21

Physical: 5-foot-10, 150LBS. 7.75SEC 60-Yard Dash.

Offensively: RHH. Wide base with bend in the knees. Rocks forward then into the rear leg as he loads. Hands go back and up prior to attack on the baseball. Slightly downhill bat path through the hitting zone. The lower half uses a toe tap for timing.

Defensively: At SS fields with bend in the knees and funnels to belt line. Has active feet and showed range side to side. Threw from multiple arm angles.

Pitching: Primary RHP. Works strictly out of the stretch. Sets up on the 3B side of the rubber. Comes set and gets down the mound in a straight line towards home plate. Hands come up above chest height prior to the leg lift to slightly below chest. Has bend in the rear leg throughout the delivery. Arm swing is fluid.

11/02/19

5-foot-8, 140-pound righty sat 77-79 from a high 3/4 arm slot. Displayed a balanced, repeatable delivery while routinely getting downhill. Curveball showed 11/5 rotation at 66-67 with late, slider type action. Cutter is a solid pitch with gradual movement at 74-76. Definite follow in this class that should continue to see strides through physical maturity and strength gains.
