Uncommitted Spotlight: 2022 SS/RHP Mathew Murtagh (Saugerties)

Physical: 6-foot-1, 160 pounds; long limbed, projectable frame. 6.77 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Wide, balanced base sitting in the legs with hands starting up in front of back shoulder; gets into back leg before striding forward gaining ground while hands load to back side of the shoulder. Aggressive lower half hitting into a stiff front side; gets on plane early and is quick into the zone producing 16.7 G's rotational acceleration and plus bat speed up to 73.8 mph per Blast Motion.  Stays behind the ball well creating backspin on hard contact through the middle and pull side; peak Trackman exit velocity of 91 MPH.
Defensively: Uses prep step; Athletic, rangey actions playing low to the ground and aggressively through the ball. Soft glove hand with quick, clean transfers; quick arm action to a 3/4 release on strong, accurate throws.  INF - 90 MPH.
Pitching: Side rocker step to a high leg lift with foot kicking out, in down and out in line accelerating through a repeatable release and follow through against a strong post leg. Loose, quick arm action to a clean 3/4 release. FB: Peak velo of 85 MPH, while sitting 82-85 MPH. Life out of the hand with a plus Bauer Unit of 27; Has some ride (max 18.9") and plus arm side run up to 16.3". SL: 69-71 MPH. High spin (2195) sharp slider with 11-5 shape; vertical drop up to 2" and 7.5" horizontal break.
