Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Shelby Richards

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

One of the top infielders still on the board, Shelby Richards has the tools you want on the field paired with the intangible that make him an attractive prospect. The Ram's shortstop hit .408 as a Junior and has continued to progress in each of the Prep Baseball Report testing categories with personal bests coming at the Rancho Scout Day with a 6.84 Laser Times 60 Time, 84 mph Infield Velocity and an 83 mph Exit Velocity.

In the shortened high school season, Richards has showcased is ability to spray the ball to all fields as well as his power potential which should increase as he fills out his lean, 6-foot-0, 140 pound frame. On top of the tools he has put on display at PBR events and throughout his high school career, this is a prospect who has proven his ability as a leader, guiding a notoriously gritty Rancho squad into what looked to be a promising 2020 season.
