Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Joshua Johnson

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The top prospect in Nevada still on the board, Josh Johnson is a two-way prospect with a mid 80's fastball and projectable secondary stuff. This under the radar prospect with raw ability on the mound makes him attractive prospect with the feel for his projectable secondary stuff and the ability to reach back for a PBR Verified fastball up to 86 mph. His three pitch repertoire has shown the ability to be swing and miss stuff, evident by his eight strikeouts in just 3.1 inning of work in the shortened 2020 season.

"Josh is a very projectable right-handed pitcher who can throw all three pitches for strike." - Coronado Head Coach, Rich Santigate

Along with his ability on the mound, Johnson has flashed his abilities in the field as well. At the Southern Nevada Preseason ID event last year with clean infield actions with a smooth transition into an above average infield arm that topped out at 86 mph across the diamond. At the plate he showcased his excellent bat speed and pull side power potential after earning at 94 mph Exit Velocity.
